Every so often an example of something you have written comes along to makes the point more exquisitely than anything you could have imagined. It's not the perfect illustration, but somehow better than perfect, which doesn't make sense but perhaps you get what I mean. 1/
Many of you know that for some time on Twitter I have been making the point that there is no White House in the sense that journalists had always used the term: an extension of the President's policy intentions and current thinking, capable of speaking authoritatively for him. 2/
That no longer exists. Now it's just Trump and people who work in the building. They frequently have no idea what the President intends to do or just did. They find out when you find out. They read the tweets. @EricBoehlert just wrote about this: dailykos.com/stories/2019/8… (More) 3/
Now for the reveal. The kind of illustration a writer can only dream about. Via @anniekarni, a White House correspondent for the New York Times (and how perfect is that?) Once again, there is no White House in the sense the press has always used the term.
