Video Games are having a #metoo moment. The toxicity from fans has been well documented for years but the toxic, abusive, predatory behavior between developers has mostly been spoken in whispers between trusted friends. I'm in awe of the bravery of those who have spoken up today.

Their bravery is going to give courage to other women and non-binary folks to speak up and you can rest assured that this is a massive problem affecting and caused by the developers who make the games you love.

So let me remind you: Believe women

This is a time when all the men who claim to be allies get to show their real values. If you work with or are in communities with predatory men speak up, speak to management, voice your concerns, demand consequences for predatory behavior.

@femfreq Reading through all the messages we've gotten has been utterly devastating. There is so much pain and long term suffering at the hands of abusive and manipulative men.

To all the survivors out there, whether it's physical or emotional abuse, I see you, I hear you, I believe you.

(This goes for all marginalized folks but I've mostly been talking to trans and cis women the past two days and) y'all... women have been through so damn much in this industry and this misogynist world. I am blown away by how courageous and resilient and supportive you all are.

From the women who are sharing their stories both publicly and privately to the people who are rallying to support. I'm just over here crying through my utter exhaustion and taking a minute of gratitude to recognize the sheer collective and individual strength of us.

It feels an awful lot like all the power structures are working against us at every moment but the incredible rapid response of this community is just, y'all, it's beautiful.
