What people like me need to recognise is that the purple pill v. realist debate is also characterised by age

That is, broadly the 'purple' guys are younger than the realist (TRP) guys

This is not ALWAYS the case of course

But I can think of quite a few prominent purple
dudes who are 30 or under

(Yeah, there's George Bruno, but this is a serious conversation).

Then you have 'middle-aged' dudes like me who, all of a sudden, are looking old-fashioned in their 'degeneracy'
Way back in my day, it was cool to be a bit rebellious, to break rules etc.

For the younger purple dudes this is no longer the case

Now, 'the most rebellious thing you can do is be square', as others have said
So this isn't just a schism between ideologies, it's also a generational schism

Through that lens it's easy to paint people like me as old dinosaurs who no longer 'get it'
Well, fine. So be it. I would rather be a 'dinosaur' and stick to my guns than an oldster trying to get down with the kids

(Cough...Bruno)

But the truth is my attitude to all of this stuff has changed very little since I was a kid
And I am by no means typical of my generation

Many of my peers have had very conventional lives - I have not

Partly by luck and partly by design I've managed to avoid a lot of the errors that they've made and the traps they've fallen into

And now I live a life many envy
So I would rather grow old disgracefully than bend with the times

Also, a mistake that many of the purple dudes make is to think that people like me ONLY have @RationalMale as a reference point

That everything we think we know about the sexual marketplace comes from him
@RationalMale Of course, this is patent nonsense

I have a life away from the internet

I have many friends and colleagues of different ages who are married, have kids, are divorced, have had multiple marriages, have remained single etc.
@RationalMale I also have a fairly big family where lots of different marriages & divorces have occurred

So my data set is pretty big - and that's not even including the guys I work with, case studies I read, celebrity stories etc.
@RationalMale When I take advice I generally talk to older guys in their 50s and 60s who've been through a lot and REALLY know what they're talking about

Yeah, it's kinda patronising for me to say that some dude who's 30 and been married for 2 years doesn't really know the score
@RationalMale But I can't help wonder where some of these purple 30 year-olds will be at 40, and whether their views and messaging will have altered?

Or how they will rationalise it if things don't go as they planned?
