I am in a truly staggering amount of pain, and waiting for my doctor's office to open so I can call for an appointment. I do not want medical advice from the internet. I'm telling you I'm going to the hospital because it's book release day and I'm about to disappear.
I do understand that everyone is different, but I've asked repeatedly that people who don't have personal relationships with me NOT give me medical advice on the internet. It makes me stubborn and angry, and then I delay care.
So in my specific case, going "you should really get that looked at" is an excellent way to convince me to hurt myself through neglect.

It's September first, 2019. Ten years ago today, ROSEMARY AND RUE was released in bookstores across North America (the import shops took longer to get their copies). Ten years ago, exactly, this wacky adventure began in earnest.
(My time with Toby started considerably earlier, in 1996, when I wrote a short story called "Of Koi Fish and October Dayes," and my girlfriend at the time demanded I expand it into a novel. It took a while.)
When I announced that I had sold three new urban fantasy novels to @dawbooks, a surprising number of people were willing and eager to tell me that urban fantasy was dead, and I had already failed. Some of them believed themselves to be friends of mine.

I have just come from the National Book Festival Gala at the Library of Congress, which is bigger and fancier than I ever knew it was, and I have just instigated the best bit of mischief ever.
I was on my way out with @charliejane (we were sharing a Lyft) when we were instructed to go in and see the Reading Room, which is huge and spacious and domed.
@charliejane Being me, I went directly to "I bet the acoustics in here are amazing WE SHOULD TEST THEM," and then, wonder of wonders, serendipity of serendipities...a woman standing nearby said "I'm LITERALLY an opera singer."

The suicide trope is a horrible scare tactic. It's based on an unreliable study of self reporting adults. NOT KIDS. This pervasive idea that children will kill themselves if parents don't medically transition them, needs to stop. 3/13

Waiting at the doctor’s office so I have time for a micro-thread. I would like to remind my senior colleagues (senior to me, I’m relatively senior myself) that not everyone is socialized the way you were, or the way your students were or are trained. Not everyone thinking of...
... graduate school has ever met Masters or PhDs before. My chemical engineering programme didn’t have ONE PhD teaching until a young graduate from our university went to the now defunct UMIST in Manchester (also by fluke) to do his PhD - he returned to teach after I finished.
The state of Guanajuato has a really prestigious graduate programme in Chemical Engineering (Instituto Tecnológico de Celaya) where faculty are Mexicans who did their PhDs abroad (much like my own institution, CIDE) - I learned about ITC from my Separation Processes Professor

He wakes up once again to an empty room. He looks for his phone which he finds at the dresser with his car key. His shoes neatly arranged next to the closet and curtains drawn.

He checks the bathroom but there is no sign of the younger.

Failing to have his call picked up,
he sends a text and starts to feel anxious.

Did Kyungsoo run away?

He opens the closet and finds their bags with their wallets inside. It means the other only has his phone with him.

And he's not answering any calls and texts.

He's seriously getting worried.
If before, he could contact his cousin and ask of his whereabouts, right now he doesn't have anyone to turn to.

Just then the door opens, revealing a drenched Kyungsoo. The younger just stands there, at the doorway with a bashful smile.

"What happened to you? Why are you wet?"
