Did Attorney General lie in the SC?:

On 21st Aug, Attorney General KK Venugopal said in the Supreme Court that many Indians lost their lives to the "Blue Whale Challenge".

This was in the case of linking Aadhaar to social media accounts

I filed an RTI to nail this lie. (1/8)
In my RTI to the NCRB (National Crime Records Bureau), I'd asked them to list out all FIRs filed in cases related to the "Blue Whale Challenge" where people had lost their lives.

If the Attorney General makes a claim in the SC, it needs to be backed by police cases. (2/8)
Surprisingly, the NCRB responded by saying that they "did not have access to this information".

The NCRB has also said that only the Investigation Officer in these cases is privy to this information. (3/8)
What's shocking is that I never asked for case diaries or investigation files.

I'd merely demanded info on how many FIRs had been lodged in cases of people dying due to the "Blue Whale Challenge".

This is public info that's also provided to the media & press. (4/8)
And if this is such confidential info (that even the Home Ministry doesn't have it), then how was Attorney General KK Venugopal privileged enough to have this info based on which he made a claim in the Supreme Court?

The logic just doesn't add up (5/8)
This either means 3 things:

A. NCRB is stonewalling & not disclosing info

B. NCRB doesn't have this info because no FIRs exist of people dying due to the Blue Whale Challenge

In the 2nd case, it clearly implies that the Attorney General made a baseless claim in the SC. (6/8)
If it's reason A, this is a clear case of bypassing the RTI Act to withhold public information.

If it's reason B, it means the Attorney General made a false claim in the SC.

Making false claim in a case regarding linking of Aadhaar with social media accounts is SERIOUS. (7/8)
Did the Attorney General make a baseless claim in the Supreme Court to push the agenda of forcing people to link Aadhaar with social media accounts?

KK Venugopal MUST disclose the source of his "Blue Whale Challenge" statement in the SC because the NCRB has no such info. (8/8)
