This got a lot of replies, and it’s pretty striking.

People on the left replied with dozens of other reality-based ways Republicans consign us to our deaths.

People on the right had three comebacks. Abortion, lies, and lies about abortion.
Democrats: don’t forget repealing the ACA, ICE detention centers, the opioid crisis, …

Republicans: but what about forced labor camps and fourth trimester abortions
GOP politicians don’t want real solutions to real problems anymore. They’ve got fake solutions and, increasingly, fake problems. I’m reminded of this line from Voltaire.

The morning after the 2016 election, I remember thinking the result was only possible in a country that tolerated the idea of second class citizens. And that had included me.
I didn't like the idea of second class citizens, but I'd put up with it. I hadn't fought for my cousins, my friends, my neighbors. By sitting on the sidelines, I had helped put us where we suddenly found ourselves. I was complicit in his win*. It hit me like a ton of bricks.
My children and everyone else were about to to pay a huge price for it. And the people I'd let down before were going to pay everything I paid, and more. I don't just mean this generally. I mean people close to me.

If the Second Amendment gives you the right to an assault weapon, why doesn't it give you the right to a nuclear bomb? They’re both “arms”.

Never heard a good answer for that.
The gun debate needs a lot more “Do you think we have the right to bear nuclear arms?” and a lot less “what does the AR stand for?”

But some people would rather talk about product names than the Constitution.

(AR stands for Armalite Rifle. It couldn’t matter less.)

Congress and the American people have the right to know what the special counsel has unearthed.

Even the president and House #Republicans have called for the full release of #Mueller’s findings.
Now, Barr ought to make good on the commitments to transparency he made to us over the course of his confirmation.
That means outlining a clear, expeditious process for reviewing the report, transmitting it to Congress, and preserving the work product and records of the special counsel.

This is no time for cover-ups.
