✨TAROT TIPS FOR BEGINNERS (like me :P)✨

note: these are all the tips that i've learned/found online (pinterest, tumblr, sites like biddy tarot, etc.). Correct me if there's something wrong with the tips that i'm sharing! I will definitely appreciate it. 😊
I will continuously add something here, you can add your own tips too! Feel free to share them and let’s help each other out!
First of all, Tarot is a deck of 78 cards, each with its own imagery, symbolism and story. The 22 Major Arcana cards represent life's karmic and spiritual lessons, and the 56 Minor Arcana cards reflect the trials and tribulations that we experience on a daily basis.
“Tarot is the storybook of our life, the mirror to our soul, and the key to our inner wisdom.” -Brigit, Biddy Tarot

I just wanted to highlight those parts haha. You can check out the link and read more about this: biddytarot.com/what-is-tarot-…

Let’s start with the tips!!! ✨
1. GET YOUR OWN DECK. It’s not a bad luck to buy your own deck. Get the deck you will feel drawn to. It’s okay! Don’t let anyone gate keep you!

2. Now that you have your own deck, what should you do? CLEANSE AND CHARGE YOUR DECK!
• How to CLEANSE/CHARGE your deck?:

- Crystals
- Put the cards back in order and shuffle it
- Moonlight bath
- Sunlight bath
- Meditation
- Smoke cleansing (use any type of incense/herbs)
- Sound/Frequencies

There are A LOT of ways to do cleansing, find whatever suits you!
• WHEN to cleanse?

- If you bought/have been gifted a new or a secondhand deck
- Before and after using it
- When someone else touches it (depends if you don’t want your deck to be touched by others)
- After doing a heavy reading
- Whenever you feel like it
3. After cleansing your deck, it’s good to bond with them so you can get accustomed to each other’s energy.

• How to BOND with your tarot deck?

- Sleep with your deck! Put it underneath your pillow, make sure to cleanse it before doing this.
- Shuffle your deck. Anytime, anywhere, whenever you feel comfortable doing it.
- Talk to it! Ask them how they feel, tell them stories, tell them about your day.
- Do a deck interview! It'll help you to get to know your deck. There are a lot of spreads to do this, here’s one:
- Do a visual meditation w/ your deck. Just hold on to it, you can meditate with each card, visualize the card that you’re holding, imagine yourself talking to it.
- Treat your deck as your friend 💛

There are other ways to do this, feel free to do whatever you feel like doing.
4. GET/CREATE A TAROT JOURNAL! Yes! Journal your tarot journey! Write down everything. The tips and how to’s, keywords, insights, feelings, the readings, spreads, and interpretations to check them again to see what’s right and what’s wrong or just to add up something.
5. START SIMPLE AND START READING! Do a practice reading for yourself, your family or your friends. BE CONFIDENT AND TRUST YOUR INTUITION! You don’t have to be right always, it’s okay. You’re still learning! Start doing a 1-3 cards spread and learn how to read them.
Few examples of the spreads (found this on tumblr and pinterest):
6. Do a DAILY CARD PULL! Ask your deck things like, “what should I know today?”, “What’s the energy of my day today?”, anything! This will help you get to know each card and learn. Use your journal! Write it down then do a reflection every night about your day and the card.
Side note: Don’t let tarot rule your life!

7. THERE IS NO ONE WAY TO SHUFFLE YOUR DECK. Shuffle it the way you want. Don’t be afraid to try other ways to shuffle to expand your learning. Pay attention to the jumping cards! They usually have a major add up to your readings.
8. Don’t JUST randomly pick cards. Feel it and put your heart into it every time you shuffle. Focus on your question and on what you want to know.

9. Thank your deck every after readings. Ask your spirit guides, angels or the Universe to help you with your readings.
10. KNOW THE KEYWORDS, BASIC NUMEROLOGY, SYMBOLS, COLORS, SIGNS, ELEMENTS of the cards. It’s okay to look up and read the meanings of each cards. You’re still learning! Once you’re confident, start reading intuitively. It takes time, don’t worry!-
Study the way you want to study. We have our own learning styles. Flashcards can help you, big time! You can start with the Major Arcanas > Minor Arcanas > Numerology or any way you feel comfortable. Study one card at a time, it's okay to take things slowly. Again, it takes time.
11. Protect yourself from negative energies! Meditate and visualize a protective white light covering your whole body. There are other ways to protect yourself. You can also use crystals. Do whatever feels right.

12. Meditating before readings will help you gain clarity.
13. DON'T BE AFRAID TO MAKE MISTAKES. It’s okay if your readings did not and will not resonate with the person. We’re all humans and we’re not perfect. Not even your deck. Remember, answers may change over time. DON'T DOUBT YOUR READINGS! Always trust your gut. You got this!
14. DON'T BE AFRAID TO ASK FOR SECOND OPINIONS. It’s okay to ask for help. Just make sure you’re not bothering the person you’re asking to and you’re asking in a nice way.
15. The more you use your deck, the more you’ll get to know it and the more you’ll understand it.

16. Try creating a story based on each card to help you with your interpretations.

17. When asking for clarifications, try to draw/pick one card only to avoid confusion.
18. It’s okay if your deck doesn’t work out for you even if you felt drawn to it at first. They have their own personality. (My first deck makes fun of me whenever I do personal readings lol my second one is pretty straight serious with readings) Again, get to know your deck 😊
20. DON'T FEEL BAD IF YOU STILL USE THE BOOK WHENEVER YOU DO READINGS. That doesn't mean you're a bad reader. Again, you're still learning and you will grow through the process.
21. Reversals are not always bad and upright is not always good.
Additional info on HOW TO CLEANSE your deck:

- Knock on your deck 3x
- Blow on your deck. Imagine your breath of air erasing the energies that have been clinging to the cards
- If you have access to holy water, you can also use it. Be careful though, you might damage your cards
22. Don't think about what other readers are doing. They have their own journey and obviously, it's different from yours. It's okay if you feel like you're moving too slow, this is not a race.

"Don't follow the crowd, pave your own way."

Be confident and trust yourself! 🤗
23. If you practice witchcraft, you can use tarot in various spells. You can also try using a sigil to help you with your practice and learning.
24. Tired of reading tarot books and stuff? Try doing a monthly challenge to help you learn how to interpret your cards in different/new ways. You can find them on ig, tumblr, and pinterest.

Examples of these challenges (from pinterest):
25. Don't be afraid to say that you're still practicing whenever you give out readings. This will keep you out of high expectations. It's okay! 😊

36. If you're caught between whether or not you should do the right thing in your current situation:

- Shuffle your deck
- Find Justice
- The card under it will give you direction
37. Youtube videos are helpful too! Thanks again for sharing @space_cadets_ 😊✨

@space_cadets_ 38. Be mindful of the energy you're putting into your deck. If you shuffle your deck when you're angry, stressed, or with any negative feelings, you won't get any clear readings.

Treat your cards like they have feelings. Treat them well and they will do the same to you.✨
@space_cadets_ You should really know this guys! Especially sage, please avoid using them. You can use palo santo, mugwort, rosemary, lavender, or even bay leaves! Thank you @feralkriswu 😊

There are other herbs that can be used and can be easily found. Like these:

Additional tip :)
Always let your intuition guide you! Don't just "simply" rely on the "real" meaning of the cards. Let your cards tell you what they're trying to tell you. ✨
Sometimes the numbers in the cards indicate a sequence and it explains the whole energy of the reading that's why you have to pay attention to the numbers, symbols, and colors too. Astrological correspondence of the cards can tell you a lot of things too.
Daily spreads you can try!
