We all know how awful and horrific #September11 was. But, as Mr. Rogers said, "Look for the helpers."

Instead of only remembering the terror, let's also remember the helpers.

Meet Pakistani Faisal Ellahi, jailed for 13 years for raping a woman with Down Syndrome, demolishing years of work helping her lead an independent life. The court heard he was in the bottom 3% of the pop in cognitive functioning. Nobody has explained why he was allowed move here.

A certain Irish woman is running around spreading hatred towards non-white immigrants.

One thing I'm guilty of is not doing enough to counter messages of hate with ones of positivity.

So here's a few stories of people who show the very best of Ireland:
This is Lieutenant-Colonel Shahzad Ahmad. He's served in the Irish Army since 2001, as Brigade Medical Officer, including peacekeeping missions in Kosovo and Eritrea.

He says "if you are a simple, practising Muslim, your contribution to the Irish people can be tremendous".

there are also the critics, who are always criticizing the people who are helping
for more nuance – I think Jefferson had a quote that was something like, "resistance on occasion is so critical/important that it should always be kept alive" – and in that sense, critics are important too

So far we learned about some pogroms 😠(1171 France, 1190 England) and Maïmōnídēs dying 😢(1204 Egypt).
JewishHistory is filled with sorrow and darkness but it gets better in the 2nd half of the 20th century 😉
