Richard Stallman also believes that "the most plausible" version of the allegation that his colleague Marvin Minsky, then 73, raped Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre, then 17, is that SHE was willing.
Pretty convenient that a 66-year-old man who believes that it's okay for a 73-year-old man to have sex with a 17-year-old also happens to see 17-year-olds being sexually interested in 73-year-old men as the default condition.

The argument against impeaching Kavanaugh strikes me as very similar to the argument against impeaching Trump. "If the Senate won't convict, why bother?"
But it's not at all clear to me that, say, a series of 2022 House hearings on Kavanaugh's alleged sexual assaults, financial misdeeds, and perjuries, culminating in an impeachment vote and Senate trial, would be a political boon for the GOP.
The Republicans pushed Kavanaugh through because they knew that time and attention were working against them—if they thought the allegations against him were harming the Dems without imperiling GOP votes to confirm, they would have let them drag on.

Note the knock-on effects of the atrocious headline. Alene is making an important point about politics, justice, and structural failure, and the article she links claims to be about who did and didn't "fit in with the privileged kids."
It's an important article about sexual assault and government malfeasance, which means that it's going to be linked all over the place in that context. But the headline makes it look like everybody's tweeting the wrong link.
In order to know why someone's tweeting THIS article in relationship to THIS story, you have to have read the article already. Which is exactly the opposite of what should happen, and what the Times, in theory, should want to happen.
