Note the knock-on effects of the atrocious headline. Alene is making an important point about politics, justice, and structural failure, and the article she links claims to be about who did and didn't "fit in with the privileged kids."
It's an important article about sexual assault and government malfeasance, which means that it's going to be linked all over the place in that context. But the headline makes it look like everybody's tweeting the wrong link.
In order to know why someone's tweeting THIS article in relationship to THIS story, you have to have read the article already. Which is exactly the opposite of what should happen, and what the Times, in theory, should want to happen.
