John Minford, #SunTzu 9: 16 "When the enemy is close at hand and makes no move, he is counting on a strong position."
Let's talk about the Godfather. It may well be his most famous aphorism that you should keep your friends close, but your enemies closer. What absolute idiocy. He was wise beyond measure. He is one of my greatest heroes, more than I can say. But this is dumb.
Consider what it cost him. He tried, and failed, to keep Sollozzo close. He ended up with five bullets in his back. No, he didn't die. But he never regained his health. No, he didn't lose Fredo in death, but he lost his boy's confidence and soul. Poor, poor Fredo.
No, he didn't lose Michael, but he destroyed any shot Michael had of a legitimate life outside of crime. And yes, he completely lost Santino. Santino was a GREAT Don. I'd have served him with joy. But he lost Santino utterly, on the causeway. All by keeping his enemy close.
Who made no move? Don Barzini made no move. Tattaglia made a move, and he lost his beloved son as a result. It was Tattaglia who took out Luca Brasi. I apologize is you don't know the movie. Everyone should, and if you haven't you must watch it.
For those of you who know the film, or better yet the book, Don Barzini was the enemy who was close at hand, and made no move. He was counting on his very, very strong position. As the end of my apology, please remember, I am The Consigliori. That comes from this film.
Hillary made no move over the FBI investigation. When interviewed, she simply said that there was no way she'd be indicted. She didn't have to make a single move. She was so very close at hand, and she knew how the swamp creatures would protect her. No move required.
To date, Comey doesn't have a single thing to fear. He can go on TV, discuss how he set up Flynn, crimes raging beyond count or measure, and he need do nothing, take no move whatever. Why not? he's counting on his protected, strong swamp position. No need to make a move.
Fellow #SunTzuForMAGA students, we must understand, the left has every advantage. We just won one election so far, and it wasn't really us who won it. It was @realDonaldTrump. We are surely a movement, but what is our range, our strength? Need our enemies fear us?
@realDonaldTrump The media surely doesn't. They jettison Bill O'Reilly and what do we do about that? Not one thing. They need take no other move because their position is so strong. We are so weak. Our voices are not heard. Hell, do we even set up a concerted voice at all? What should they fear?
@realDonaldTrump The sad answer is not much. They are so very close at hand. They need not make any move at all. So, the Tea Party shows up and wins the 2010 House election. So what? The leaders still give Obama every single thing he wants. I'll never forget that, will you? No move at all.
@realDonaldTrump 2016, we win all three branches, House, Senate and White House and what happens? The Never-Trumpers run rampant. We can't even repeal and replace Obamacare. There's that evil John McCain that the Democrats so love to praise with his thumb down, evil joy on his face.
@realDonaldTrump Let's talk about you. Do you remember a moment when your enemies were laughing at you to your face? When they didn't have to do a damned thing to defeat you because they were so well protected, and you were all alone? The stories I could tell of just such. It hurts to recall.
@realDonaldTrump In this verse, Master Sun is telling us to watch out for a supremely confident enemy. Beware. Sure, he might be overconfident, and we might be able to take advantage of that. But not if we are so overconfident, we fail to read the signs of his strength. That's the real point.
@realDonaldTrump Here's your personal answer. When you see your enemy, close at hand, so confident, you MUST be able to ascertain the reason he feels that way. You MUST be able to identify his advantage, and why he's so happy about it he doesn't feel the need to make a move.
@realDonaldTrump The analysis underlying all such moments has four elements, just these:

1) His Strength
2) His Weakness
3) My Strength
4) My weakness
@realDonaldTrump Master Sun is explaining, clearly, when your enemy doesn't feel the need to make a move, you damn well better know what his strength is. Until you do, beware. You must take that in.
@realDonaldTrump But of course, when you do know what his strength is, and if you can find his weakness, you then play to his strength, lure him into false confidence, ply his weakness and lead him to utter destruction. Can you feel the joy of that? I love Master Sun. Don't you?
