I'll never forget the 11 p.m. meeting with Juan Garza, a self-described "Afro-Ecuadorian," that resulted in the first object entering @NMAAHC's collection. For #HispanicHeritageMonth, I want to share with you the story of this wooden boat seat from Ecuador. #CreatingNMAAHC Wooden bench-like seat carved with a spider web and spider.
@NMAAHC Many formerly enslaved people fled to the swampy areas of Ecuador away from white enslavers, where they traveled waterways by canoe. Elderly women made the canoe seats. This one was made by Garza's grandmother. Spot an image of the West African trickster, Anansi the Spider? #HHM Overhead view of light wooden boat seat. It has been carved with a spider web that reaches every side of the top of the seat where you sit and a fairly large spider in center of web.
The Ecuadorian boat seat represents the shared connections between the cultures of the transatlantic slave trade in the Americas. #HispanicHeritageMonth

Donald Trump is the inevitable result of “Never Forget” culture.
See, cuz there are 2 kinds of “never forget”ing.

There’s the kind where you use the non-forgettable event as a mirror. A rock bottom. A chance to grow.

And there’s the vengeful, fearful kind where “Never forget” is a kind of threat.

Guess which kind’s easier.
Trump is a grievancemonger, a fearmonger, and a divider. 9/11 was one of the most important ingredients in the shit stew that produced the political entity we unfortunately have to try to survive now.

My take on Afghanistan...
US objective of invading Afghanistan was to unseat Taliban that was achieved in no time.US continued in Afghanistan more as a backup for fledgling Afghan army. So question of loosing war will not/shall not arise in this case. 1/n
Had US wanted a win in Afghanistan, I would have used its best arsenal as President Trump quoted in his joint press con with PM Imran khan 2/n
With respect to Amb.Zailmay #Khalilzad is acting as US interlocutor for Afghanistan from early 2000s as Ambasssador and as special envoy. Probably only person left with US after sad departure of Richard Holbrooke for AfPak region 3/n

1) Did you know that you have a right of petition? And, did you know that a petition is NOT merely a group of signatures, but merely a request, and a request that any one person may make? Yes, we usually think of the term as a noun, referring to a request by many people.
2) But if you look at the term's definition as a verb, you draw closer to what I'm discussing. Here's the verb: "make or present a formal request to (an authority) with respect to a particular cause." Every person has the right to make a request. Don't believe me?
