And we've started. First up, James Woolfe QC. He's the Scottish government's Lord Advocate - that's its top legal adviser. He's got 30 minutes to make an intervention on its behalf.
Typo. James Wolffe QC, with a double f. Apols.
Mr Wolffe is arguing that the court needs to "calibrate" its approach to holding ministers to account in relation to the importance of the issue before them. The more serious the issue, the more important it is that courts looks into it.
So get this. Government has made written submissions to the Supreme Court on what it should order the PM to do, were it to find against Boris Johnson. This is critical to understanding how & when Parliament court return. But we can't tell you what it says. It's not been disclosed
The Attorney General's Office has told the media that it is not being published unless we force it to be released by order of the court. #openjustice
While we waste time seeking disclosure of a perfectly public document (Guardian v Westminister Mags; Dring v Cape Intermediate et al) the hearing has moved on to hear from Ronan Lavery QC, for the NI element of the challenge.
Mr Lavery says it is important to understand the role of the EU as a "peace project". It's enabled close co-operation between the UK and the Republic of Ireland. We are urging the court to look at this legal question in a way that it impacts Northern Ireland in particular.
Lady Hale: But we are not concerned with [Brexit and its implications] - we are concerned with the lawfulness of the decision to prorogue Parliament for five weeks.
Mr Lavery tells the court the immediate impact of prorogation is not just the loss of parliamentary time or a loss of opportunities to srutinise the Prime Minister. At a Northern Ireland level, nobody can be appointed to run public buses.
His point is that there has been a huge loss of secondary legislation - the rules drawn up by government departments that deal with the minutiae of how the UK works.
Mr Lavery finding it tough going with some justices, in particular Lord Reed. He's asked why prorogation has a really specific impact on Northern Ireland that opens up a legal question they need to grapple with - or whether the submissions are merely a complaint about Brexit.
Wow. Wow. Wow. Lord Wilson has just admonished (or as the press pack has it, delivered a Judicial Slapdown) to Ronan Lavery QC for wasting the court's time complaining about Brexit. "Don't abuse our politeness and Lady Hale's patience."
Lord Wilson: "So many people are listening to you [he means around the world]... they may come to an entirely wrong conclusion namely that [Brexit] is what we are looking at."
Mr Lavery has finished. Next up. Michael Fordham QC for the Welsh Administration. He has just referred to the Prime Minister's proposed remedy, submitted to the court today, **BUT NOT YET DISCLOSED TO THE PUBLIC**
He's referred to para 17 of the PM's proposed remedy if he loses - but we don't have the detail so I can't remotely start to explain what Mr Johnson's team suggests the Supreme Court should do.
