Geoffrey Cox QC MP, the Attorney General, now answering an urgent question from Joanna Cherry MP (who brought one part of the SC challenge) about the legal advice he provided on the prorogation now deemed completely unlawful.
Cox: "We respect the judgment of the court. The matter of settled. The views of the law officers are not disclosed without consent. However I will consider whether the public interest requires a greater disclosure. The matter is under consideration."
Advice from a lawyer to his or her client (in this case the Attorney General to the Gov/PM etc) is legally privileged and is rarely disclosed. That is a universal rule/convention which protects the right of everyone in all walks of life to be properly advised by a lawyer.
