Last thought on the day - the sheer volume of ridiculous takes by many quite eminent Brexiteers whose judgement has become warped by their partisanship. The Supreme Court made a judgement of which I've seen no serious criticism. They'll be grateful of it another day.
Just like that obviously awful remainer, speaker John Bercow. I mean was there any clue back in 2013 that he might be prepared to bend the rules when there was a strong feeling among MPs on a subject like the EU? bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politi…

International negotiations are not war, and using the language of war guarantees failure.

I'm imagining at the general election the dominant narratives will be "surrender to the EU" and "surrender to Trump" which is a depressing prospect
Bilateral agreements require compromise. If compromise is branded as surrender we can forget ever making any deals.
Language is important. MPs are being branded undemocratic even though the entire basis of the UK's democratic system in the election of MPs.

A lot of takes today saying attacking the PM for his constant use of terms like betrayal or surrender is wrong because other MPs have said bad things.

I hold a PM to a higher standard, and also think the repetition is far more dangerous than a one off remark.
Doesn't mean other politicians get a free pass though. Plenty of examples around today that also deserve criticism.
Pretty much proving that for Johnson no principle is more important than his own popularity

I'm afraid I cannot find the words to describe the awfulness of this response from a UK Prime Minister. Nothing can do justice to a so called leader laughing off death threats in this way.
The PM also said he would break the law

A lot more talk tonight about a "unity" Government - Johnson having angered so many. Still not convinced, but rising in probability

Basically, yes. It's not an affirmative defense but it will be an argument they make in their briefs, based on the evidence that comes out during discovery or affidavits that get filed

That language is more signaling than legal effect though

This was already addressed mid-thread. You do realize filing lawsuits costs money to the court, yes?

Not getting paid != going into the hole paying the court costs

There are a few options. Provide evidence he wasn't there or X wasn't there, or depose X and challenge X's credibility (history of lying, etc), or provide evidence X is lying (emails, texts, etc), or get on the stand to say "that's false" and pray

They're too dim to realize ppl find out about the GFMs *because* they were shared on Twitter
