So much bad info floating around...

* Trump hasn't been impeached.
* The phone memo contains nothing damning.
* Impeachment is only an indictment. The Senate holds a trial on whether to remove from office. And the Senate won't have enough votes to convict.
Maybe the whistleblower report will have a smoking gun; maybe not. So far, this looks worse for Biden and the Dems than it does for Trump, especially with the mention of Crowdstrike, which is who the DNC paid to "examine" their servers after refusing to turn them over to the FBI.
I'm even seeing talk of "President Pelosi." Yeah, problem with that is if Trump is convicted and removed, Pence appoints a new VP. So even if Pence went down, his new veep would become president. Don't they teach civics in school anymore?

I have a feeling this is exactly how it will play out.
Again a disclaimer that I'm not a Trump fan. It's just that I've watched the opposition throw a tantrum for 3 years now b/c they didn't like the outcome of the election. Russiagate was a nothingburger cooked up to divert attention from DNC corruption. There's nothing here either.
You want Trump out of office? Give everyday people someone they'll want to vote for. Not another woke corporate-friendly establishment candidate who says "maybe someday we can have policy that helps people, but this election is too important, so put your principles aside."

Amazing how many people she's triggered.
Don't misunderstand. I love seeing passionate young women driven by their courage to make the world better. Joan of Arc, Anne Frank, Malala, etc. But I can't help thinking this young girl is being played by others to push an agenda. It all feels staged and highly disingenuous.
Not to mention the obvious logical fallacy of argumentum ad passiones at play. Sorry, but feels don't cut it with me when the TRAs are at it, and it won't work here. Give me data and we'll talk. But don't exploit a young girl to try to manipulate me.

A note on #impeachment -

In a court of law, under non-presidential circumstances, impeachment is a tool litigation attorneys use to discredit the opposing side's witnesses at trial. When said witness takes the stand under oath attys. present evidence contrary to what the witness
claims. This weakens the other side's case by discrediting impeached witnesses's testimony. Once a witness has been impeached - by presentment of inconsistent testimony - the judge/jury can no longer use the impeached witnesses's testimony in reaching a verdict.
Simply put, they aren't trustworthy. In the case of Presidential impeachment that broad definition of impeachment applies, but the impeachment tool is used for a very different purpose. Under the Constitution, a sitting President cannot be tried in a court of law for anything.

1. I am so sick of hearing that the ONLY reason Trump should be impeached is if he conspired with a foreign power to steal the election. Let's remove that entire smokescreen and look at impeachment as a tool and why Trump needs to be impeached EVEN WITHOUT conspiracy allegations.

There's a lot of bad info floating around out there about how the IC works and how it does the Worldwide Threat Assessment. So as someone who has helped draft these documents (including on issues like Iran!), let me try and set a few things straight in this thread: 1/
None of the judgements in the ATA are new or surprising (or at least they shouldn't be) to those who regularly receive intelligence. The IC doesn't break new news in the ATA. That means that Trump and others have known about these assessments on NK and Iran for some time. 2/
The unclassified assessment (which we heard two days ago) is consistent with the classified brief. There are certainly more details and info in the classified version, but its not like the classified version contains the "real" assessment. 3/

Hi, Patrick. I think that, the end, the only real way to save liberal democracy is through public opinion and elections.

It’s easier to write about how we got into this mess than to chart pathways out. (A crystal ball would be helpful)
1/ By “this mess” I mean finding ourselves on the verge of a fascist takeover.

In the past I warned against impeachment because the process works like this: The House investigates. If the House finds evidence, it impeaches. Impeachment requires a simple majority . . .
2/ The Senate then holds a trial on whether to remove from office. 2/3 of the Senate is required for removal.

The process is analogous to an investigation leading to an indictment, followed by trial.

It's clear the McConnell-led Senate won't remove, regardless of the evidence.
