Making my way through this now. The extent to which Minassian perfectly frames his attack through the incel prism is disturbing. He speaks in fluent internet forum without missing a beat. It encompasses his world view. #cdnnatsec
Minassian describes a vision of a revolution by the incels and calmly discusses their dream of over-throwing, subjugation and mass-killing of entirely made-up classes of people - Stacies, Chads, "normies", etc.
Minassian describes himself as more "courageous" than other incels because he decided to act.

He is not talking about murder. He is talking about "rebellion". His actions are "converting" individuals from "life status to death status".
At the same time Minassian talks about "retribution" - everything he says in the clipped videos presents himself as striking back. The only solution to being unloved is violence and subjugation. It is the "Day of Retribution" and that is burning in his mind.
Is Minassian a terrorist? He is, at the very least, a violent extremist. But this is a challenge for our current national security legal framework as @AmarAmarasingam and I wrote about here: opencanada.org/features/defin…
Nevertheless, over the last 18 months we've increasingly seen national security institutions recognize violent misogyny as a threat. Even if we are not yet sure who is best place with how to deal with it and why. This section in the 2018 @csiscanada Public Report reflects this.
Can we stop future Minassians? Do we want our natsec agencies spending time online in forums trying to guess who might strike next? Is this a good use of their time or for civil liberties?

Not going to solve this at 1am on twitter. But I can tell you there's no easy answer.
