1. I had heard about #Sabarimala and Ayappa Swami when I was in school. But never knew much, or cared, except that some people took some kind of vow, wear a black dress for a few days before going to Sabarimala on pilgrimage. #SaveOurSabarimala
2. Even though as I grew up, I came to know more about them, there was never any kind of affinity as such. It was in 2015, which marked a turning point in my life on many counts: personal and professional, & it was then that I truly became emotionally connected to Ayappa Swami.
3. It was a time when the Sabarimala issue was taken to the court and there were all kinds of media narratives. We had Right-to-bleed movements of feminists and in response, we got the Ready-to-wait movement by @IchBinGorg and team. #SaveOurSabarimala
4. As I saw the attacks on a prominent Hindu tradition & started researching for an article on Sabarimala & Ayappa Swami, my emotional connection with deity became stronger. It is true, until now, I have not visited Sabarimala, but I am also convinced that His anugraha is on me.
5.After my book #MenstruationAcrossCultures got published & I had an intense desire to submit the book at lotus feet of Ayappa; it was he who arranged for such a Darshan in Udupi, which happened in a completely unexpected manner & I instantly knew it was His anugraha for my book.
6. And the fact that the book was used by some of the advocates in the Supreme court as reference material to argue for protecting Sabarimala, made the entire writing process fulfilling and meaningful. #SaveOurSabarimala
7. It is my hope that Hindus across the world rise up and fight for saving our traditions and temples, and practices, the way the devotees of Ayappa Swami came and asserted their rights on the streets. #SaveOurSabarimala
8. The times are dark & likely to get darker in coming years. I just saw a news item about Tripura HC banning animal sacrifice in the temples. Make no mistake even this is an attack on Hindu tradition. We need to be ready for this long civilization war. #SaveOurSabarimala
9. My old piece on Why #Sabarimala is a religious issue, not women's rights issue- newsgram.com/why-sabarimala… #SaveOurSabarimala
10. My old piece on how equality discourse is being used to dismantle Hindu practices like #Sabarimala-indiafacts.org/sabarimala-deb…
#SaveOurSabarimala
11. My book, Sabarimala Confusion-#MenstruationAcrossCultures: A Historical perspective- amazon.in/Sabarimala-Con… #SaveOurSabarimala
