Only just got to parliamentary proceedings. Don't care that I missed Johnson's statement - but holy shit I really missed out on Bercow's sore throat.
This is going to shock you, but Boris Johnson is lying about customs checks in Ireland.
"We are governed by the principle of consent," Johnson says. Appalling. There is no consent from either community for a customs border. No consent for him to sabotage north-south cooperation.
The only consent he offers is for the DUP, which does represent Northern Ireland and campaigned against the majority Remain vote in Northern Ireland, to sabotage the country's regulatory framework on a four-year cycle.
The combination of ignorance, hypocrisy and desperation on the Tory benches in the Commons right now is quite nauseating.
No checks. Principle of consent. Insistence that NI businesses support him. Promise a full trade agreement deliverable by 2021. It's like staring into some kind of bizarro reality where everything is reversed.
I've grown quite tired of listening to politicians talk about bringing the country back together while paying no heed to what half of it wants.
