Holy hell. I just did some research, expecting to be proven right, but I didn't expect to be proven as right as you're about to see.
The European Union Act 2011... Read 'em and weep!
You see I expected to be proven right that GENERALLY any further transfer of power/ removal of vetoes would require a new referendum.
I did NOT know that the EU Act of 2011 SPECIFICALLY ruled out all of the things Brexiteers say Remainers voted for in 2016... EU Army, Euro etc...

The current Communications Director of Leave EU is Andy Wigmore. He was put in that position while Brexit Party's Richard Tice & Farage were leading it!

If someone set up a football team, picked all the players, the coach and the manager, then left the team and it went on to win the World Cup...
Wouldn't it be right to say they "founded a World Cup winning football team?"
Or would they sue you?
If you want to call it a coincidence that Brexit Party's Richard Tice & Farage led Leave EU & UKIP respectively and both organisations are now widely considered to be xenophobic, and that the Brexit Party was set up by Catherine Blaiklock who left it due to islamophobic tweets...

Ask those calling for an Election: WHY?

They'll either say so we can elect a Parliament to handle Brexit. In which case WE ALREADY VOTED. It rejected Deal & No-Deal.
Or they'll say something that can only be interpreted as giving PEOPLE the final say on Brexit. In which case...
The sheer **** hypocrisy of wanting another vote on Parliament because it's not handling Brexit the way you wanted, but calling it undemocratic to give people a say on the outcome of 3 years of negotiations, knowing it looks NOTHING LIKE what was promised....
ESPECIALLY when one of the reasons Parliament isn't handling Brexit the way you hoped it would is because the majority voted for Parties who promised to keep the benefits of the Single Market... Meaning you literally want another vote because the last one didn't go your way!

This is an extraordinary and deeply irresponsible speech by a senior lawyer.
He denounces Parliament as “illegitimate” on the basis that it has opposed a crash out. That is irresponsible rabble-rousing: and the claim that it is inconsistent with the referendum ignores Vote Leave’s ridiculing even the remote possibility of a crash out (Gove quote).
It also ignores the fact that the electorate returned a hung Parlt, not a Tory majority.

hi! digitization/IR librarian/archivist types! how have you dealt with arbitrary take down "request" (more like order) that go against best practice from uni admin? as in something like "all existence must be erased from the IR because we say so" & the reason is... not copyright.
i am keeping this extremely vague in public b/c i don't want to be identified publicly for raising a fuss b/c i don't want to be out of a job but this is really messing with me because the decision is... it's not even a best practice thing, it's... morally and ethically wrong.
this is really messing with me. i'm not the only one here mad/upset but we have no recourse here or room to protest, it's coming directly from the uni's president.
