So @NYGovCuomo is now comparing vaporizers to guns. His argument is that the vapor industry is doing what the gun industry does by not claiming responsibility for how people use the products.

This is a new argument, so let’s poke some holes in it with a thread.
For starters, this is a false equivalence. E-cigs were designed to be a less harmful alternative to smoking. Guns were designed to be a weapon or hunting tool. This was clearly a statement designed to invoke emotion and fear with Cuomo’s anti-gun constituents.
This argument that THC oil can go into legal nicotine vaporizers isn’t completely true. The “dank vapes” style cartridges are designed specifically for THC oil. This oil is a lot thicker than nicotine eliquid so the atomizer is designed differently. Wicking is more porous.
If you thinned out the oil more you could potentially use it in a nicotine e-cig but that’s not what we are seeing. The cartridges getting confiscated by the millions are THC specific and not refillable. Manufacturer of the oil fills it, user throws it away when done.
Also worth pointing out that Cuomo didn’t ban vaporizers. He banned flavored e-liquid. So this argument really makes no sense. No one is mixing THC oil with flavored e-liquid. Even if they wanted to, one is oil soluble and the other water soluble. SCIENCE.
This was really just a cheap, but calculated, trick to try and demonize the vapor industry even more. He figured he could turn vapor products into the boogeyman by comparing them to guns. A nasty, NY style political move.
