I'm gonna say a circa 1910 Cadillac touring, or a circa 1912 E-M-F touring. Accessory headlight gas tank on the running board.
E-M-F was for Everitt-Metzger-Flanders; Metzger was one of the founders of Cadillac, so there's a lot of resemblance between them. E-M-F was bought by Studebaker and name disappeared a few years later. Everitt went on to make cars under his own name.

Hate to start out today's #DavesCarIDService with uncertainty, but wild guess is 1925-ish Dodge Brothers sedan, with 33% confidence level. Radiator badges & visor are off though, might be a Paige or some rarer make that's escaping me rn

Diamond badge may be from a car club. I welcome a definitive ID; distinguishing characteristics are 1922-28 7 passenger sedan, steel wheels, can shaped lights, marker lights on cowl, split windshield, angled visor, fender shape
ahhhhh, much easier. Two 1918-ish Ford Model T Touring cars.

OK fuck it, here are all my opinions about the Joker Movie which none of you asked for:

Reviews already exist abt Joker Movie, abt how it aggrandizes incels and is tone deaf for our times and seems likely to court more acts of mass violence, and I agree with all those reviews.
Women are used in the film singularly as those who disappoint, never living up to offer what Arthur needs to be a good person.
It is all, ultimately, his mother’s fault. It feels very much like a movie written by rich people afraid of the poor, by men resentful of women, and oddly, specifically WOC.

Today is the 6th anniversary of my #PhD viva. I note it in some way every year. This year is a little different. Over recent months I've been facing up to the fact that I may not be able to stay in academia for the 7th anniversary. This is a thread on why.
Before starting on this though, a few thoughts first. As a white middle-class man I have never had to deal with any number of issues or obstacles that many of my friends, colleagues, or peers have. I can only imagine how hard it must be to deal with systemic obstructions too /2
Probably the last thing academia needs is another person who looks like me. That doesn't mean I want to leave, but we need to acknowledge the heavily uneven playing field that is in effect. If departments are already populated with people who look like me; it's time to ask why /3
