Everything they say about homelessness is wrong

- It's a problem of mental illness & drug addiction, not poverty

Green dogmatists Gov Jerry Brown & Gavin Newsom a) let biomass build up bc “natural” & b) made energy scarce/expensive with renewables, efficiency & nuclear-killing, distracting from grid stability
In 2016, Calif. legislature UNANIIMOUSLY PASSED legislation that would have required local governments to map & deal with elect. lines made dangerous by biomass

Might have prevented deadly fires of 2017, 2018 & fires in 2019

And yet Gov. @JerryBrownGov VETOED the bill!

Why?
Many on the Left dismissed significance of Brown veto as a right-wing myth, but it’s not

Left and right agree that the veto was horrible at every level

They result from *political* failure to hold PG&E accountable after $21 BILLION bail-out

Failure stems from decades-long focus on climate/renewables instead of fortifying electric grid & a weak, distracted governor

The President of Sierra Club was a humanist & conservationist who supported building nuclear plants, including Diablo Canyon

I know you're anxious to display empathy & outrage but you're governor: start acting like one

You need to declare an emergency and mobilize workers — PG&E and non-PG&E — to clear areas around power lines to prevent fires & put an end to these insane, dangerous black-outs

You don't need the permission of PG&E or the unions

Yes, they're your donors but you work for us not them
The black-outs are completely unacceptable for a civilized society

They are especially unacceptable for a state that saw its electricity bills INCREASE SEVEN TIMES MORE THAN THE REST OF THE US SINCE 2011

We are being ripped off & mistreated & you are doing nothing about it

1. The main provisions on homelessness are contained in Part VII of the Housing Act 1996. The Act includes, among other things, principal criteria for determining which duties a local authority will owe to a homeless applicant, and how a decision can be challenged.
2. At present, under the specific guidelines set out in Part VII of the Housing Act 1996, many tenants who are served a Section 21 'notice' are being urged by their local council to remain; for if they leave, they are bizarrely classified as 'intentionally homeless'.

My family is currently homeless. We live in our car, usually at Walmart parking lots or rest stops. We are a family of four. I'm disabled, my husband suffers from mental illness, and we have two teenage boys, as well. My oldest is autistic. (thread)
Because of the autism and because we all suffer from anxiety, we avoid the overnight shelter here, which is usually full of sick children, loud noise, and awful smells. I have tried this option many times, and my oldest just hides in the bathroom when we are there.
The majority of the programs here for the homeless are for adults without children. There is literally one family shelter. We are on a list to get into the main shelter, but like I said, we have problems with the overnight shelter there, too.
