I know you're anxious to display empathy & outrage but you're governor: start acting like one

You need to declare an emergency and mobilize workers — PG&E and non-PG&E — to clear areas around power lines to prevent fires & put an end to these insane, dangerous black-outs

THREAD
You are acting helpless like all you can do is berate PG&E on twitter and virtue signal

Declare an emergency & hire workers to clear the areas around fire lines

You don't need the permission of PG&E or the unions

Yes, they're your donors but you work for us not them
The black-outs are completely unacceptable for a civilized society

They are especially unacceptable for a state that saw its electricity bills INCREASE SEVEN TIMES MORE THAN THE REST OF THE US SINCE 2011

We are being ripped off & mistreated & you are doing nothing about it
PG&E is a monopoly with criminal tendencies

Instead of using our money to improve nat gas pipelines PG&E EXECUTIVES GAVE THEMSELVES $100 MILLION IN BONUSES

As a result 8 PEOPLE WERE INCINERATED AND 38 HOMES EXPLODED in San Bruno

sfgate.com/bayarea/articl…
And as part of the bail-out of PG&E that you not only orchestrated but was your highest priority, PG&E EXECUTIVES WILL GET $350 MILLION IN BONUSES to deal with wildfire threat

Why are we rewarding corruption & incompetence?

Why do we have to pay twice for basic things?
"Five of the 10 most destructive fires in California since 2015 have been linked to PG&E’s electrical network.

"Regulators have found that in many fires, PG&E violated state law or could have done more to make its equipment safer."

nytimes.com/interactive/20…
You yourself said "They cannot be trusted" so why did you trust them with $350 MILLION in bonuses to do the wildfire work?

Why is the wildfire work not being done?

Why are there black-outs?

Why do you trust them to get the job done now?
The government regulator of PG&E, the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), is itself corrupt and has been for years

After it forced a nuclear power plant, state & federal government began A CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION THAT REMAINS OPEN

sandiegouniontribune.com/news/watchdog/…
This is not rocket science. It's a matter of clearing the biomass around wires

San Diego Gas & Electric does a far better job of it despite having a higher proportion of lines at fire risk

PG&E is making excuses for inaction — just like you are

nytimes.com/interactive/20…
A modest proposal, @GavinNewsom

- suspend your presidential campaign
- claw-back $350M in PG&E bonus
- declare state of emergency
- hire workers to get job done
- demand AG open criminal investigation of PG&E

Most of all: do your freaking job, dude

/END
P.S. Spare us your woke euphemisms for gross incompetence and corruption

We’re not in a “de-energization” area, we’re in a goddamn black-out
