Regarding the authenticity of the Hadeeth:

"[...] You [should] listen to & obey the ruler, and even if he strikes your back & takes your wealth, you listen & obey" (Muslim, 3/1476)

Part I) Status of the narration in Muslim
Part II) Other relevant chains & their status
Part I)
Imam Muslim narrates from Muhammad ibn Sahl At-Tamimi & Abdullah ibn Abd-Ar-Rahman Ad.Darimi
-> Yahya ibn Hassaan -> Mu'awiyyah ibn Salaam -> Zayd ibn Salaam -> Abu Salaam Al-Habshi
-> Hudhayfa bin Al-Yamaan RA
-> Prophet - peace be upon him
Abu Salaam narrates it from Hudhayfa RA, but he never met him & did not hear from him nor his peers as clarified by Imam Daaraqutni (At-Tattabu', 1/181-182).
The Hadeeth or rather specifically the addition in question ("...obey the ruler, and even if...") is Mursal & thus rejected
At this point it is worth mentioning that Imam Muslim narrated this Hadeeth in the context of the Mutaba'aat of his Sahih,so basically it is only meant to be a supporting narration to the lengthy Hadeeth narrated on the authority of Hudhayfah RA which didn't include this addition
Part II)
Other chains of this narration go back to Ahadeeth narrated by Imam Ahmad in his Musnad (#23318, 23321, 23496 & further branches)

They (at least) include Sakhr ibn Badr Al-'Ilji, who is not known to have narrated anything else except this from Subay' ibn Khalid...
...Furthermore, only Abu Tayaah Yazeed ibn Humayd is known to have narrated by him and thus he can be considered as unknown (Tarikh Al-Kabeer, Jarh wa Ta'deel, Meezaan).

Two further chains include 'Ali ibn Zayd or Nasr ibn 'Aasim narrating from Subay' ibn Khalid Al-Basri...
'Ali ibn Zayd was declared weak by great Muhadditheen like Yahya ibn Ma'een, Al-Qattaan, Ahmad, Abu Haatim and others (Jarh wa Ta'deel, Tareekh Baghdad).
Also, there is no strong commendation for Subay' Al-Basri either.
Due to the defects in this version of the Hadeeth, the fact that it contradicts with the agreed upon version of it and also with other Ahadeeth of the Prophet AS (regarding protecting ones wealth, honour etc. as well as not obeying the ruler in Haram) this narration = rejected
This might interest you @BroHajji in your Da'wah against the trashcans of the rulers
Funny side-note...
Sh Al-Muqbil ibn Hadee Al-WadI'ee also declared this addition as rejected and thus the Hadeeth as weak =)
