4 years after Trudeaumania swept over Canada, the love affair with Canadian had evaporated and Trudeau faced a tough election battle. 2/7
The Conservatives were led by a man regularly attacked for being boring. The NDP was led by the first leader from a religious minority (non-Christian). 3/7
A Quebec-centric party that had received 16% of the vote in 1968, saw its vote share rise drastically. 4/7
Ultimately, the Liberals elected 2 more MPs than the Conservatives and were able to secure a minority government with the support of the NDP. 5/7
The Conservatives, or Stanfield, were unable to make inroads in Quebec; severely impacting their ability to form government. 6/7
