It looks like both "don'ts" are going to happen.
But of course destroy, as Venezuela proved, is a matter of degree. "Turns out your friend here is only MOSTLY dead. See, mostly dead is still slightly alive."
Sanctioning socialism is like shooting a corpse. The bullets have no effect.
These human beings have been destroyed. It's not like you can clean them up and send them to work. Millions of people the world over who have grown up as militia fighters and child soldiers have become disfigured with a half life of 1.5 generations.
The more sanctions are applied the more socialist they become. The more socialist they become the more sanctions are applied. Finally when they run out of rinds to gnaw and garbage to suck this desperate mass will begin the great trek north.
