2/ We know that Trump routinely chats on the phone with various fixers and friends, many of whom are big market financial types. Even without the intent of giving them advance knowledge to make trades it’s hard to imagine that such info doesn’t get disclosed a lot.
3/ A savvy market operator would know how to operationalize a lot of info to place trades and positions like those described in the article. Especially with the kind of pissing match the China trade stuff is for Trump he must talk shit about this stuff a lot.
4/ Now I think it goes without saying that Trump wouldn’t be above hooking up friends with info, probably in exchange for other stuff. But again, given his emotional transparency and indiscretion he must be dropping this kind of info all the time.
5/ And it’s not like his cronies would remotely be above scooping up a hundred million on an afternoon trade.
