to block any use of federal funds at Trump properties, including funds needed to stand up a G7 summit at Trump Doral.

First, the House passed a package of @AppropsDems bills that included an amendment to restrict the President's self-enrichment:

Later, the House passed the @AppropsDems FY2020 Financial Services & General Government bill, which also blocked uses of taxpayer dollars in the Executive Branch at Trump properties:

As @AppropsDems & the Senate negotiate final appropriations bills, @SenateGOP will have to choose to stand up to this blatant corruption or once again allow @POTUS to violate basic norms and profit off the Presidency.

Now might be a good time to remind Americans of the Budapest Memorandum. In 1994, in exchange for Ukraine giving up its stockpile of nuclear weapons--the world's 3rd largest stockpile--Russia & US promised Ukraine respect for its sovereignty and *the existing borders.*
The signatories offered Ukraine "security assurances" in exchange for signing the NPT. These promises were also made in Conference on Security and Co-operation in Europe (and well as the UN Charter and NPT).

There was the time that Brian was apparently working alongside a 85+ year old German reporter who compared the Trump era to Nazi-era Germany
There was also the time that Brian encountered an Afghanistan veteran whose son was now serving in Afghanistan...an hour after The Onion tweeted out an identical "story."

Now seems like a good time to review the legal standard for Impeaching a sitting President. Article I § 2 of the Constitution gives the House of Representatives the sole power to impeach (make formal charges) and Article I § 3 gives Senate the sole power to try impeachments. 1/
Article II § 4 of the Constitution specifies the law: "The President, Vice President and all civil officers of the United States, shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors." 2/
The operative legal standard to apply to an impeachment is "treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors." BUT, there is major difference of opinion over the interpretation of what this means practically.
