The cop was allowed to resign before being discipined. The case was referred to the District Attorney, who declined to press charges.
Check out this statement: "Investigators with the state police force and the San Juan County District Attorney’s Office reviewed the case, but both agencies told the Farmington Daily Times that neither the officer *nor the student* would face criminal charges."
Because when a police officer brutalizes a child in the 6th grade, it always behooves the police and DA's office to investigate whether the child should be prosecuted.
