I’ve been leaked a recent Dexeu document setting out in black & white how UK plans to diverge from EU on regulations despite Johnson assurances on workers rights etc

Read it here on @FT

it’s tonight’s @ft splash
just heard @KwasiKwarteng on @BBCRadio4 claiming he’s not aware of any such document

It’s entitled “Update to EPSG on level playing field negotiations”, hope this helps

The paper also says:

“official - sensitive - not to be copied or forwarded without author’s permission”
In fairness this doesn’t disprove Johnson’s promises that he *wants* to uphold various rights...

it just shows that UK government intends to maintain flexibility to do so (or not do so) in future
Business leaders are concerned about the potential for major regulatory divergence from the EU, here’s our @ft explainer from earlier in the week

one very senior business figure told me:

“We are cautious about last week’s deal because it could be a Trojan Horse for a bare-bones FTA.”

“They are telling us they want regulatory alignment but they’re also telling the ERG that they’re providing a path to a Canada-style deal.”
business minister Kwesi Kwarteng told the BBC the claims were "completely mad"

here’s the Guardian version

it’ll be interesting to see what right-wing ERG types make of the @JamesCleverly insistence that of course a Tory government will improve employment legislation for the benefit of workers #MarrShow
