What if conservative evangelicals' ubiquitous talk of "the end times" from the 1970s up through today has been a self-fulfilling prophecy? As in, what if they've empowered the party and backed the economic policies that lead to the actual destruction of America & the planet?
As in, all of this destructiveness was avoidable, it was not preordained, it was just made manifest in the world by the political choices of people who believed the story they had told themselves about "the end times."
