@vijaya 1/n I'd like to tell you a story: One of my students, a 17y-old girl today. When she was 14, she created a Twitter account, under which she appears with her first & last name and her picture. She published as her first Tweet "I'm new on Twitter and addicted to Marijuana".
/n Then she forgot about the existence of this account, until she started looking for an apprenticeship. Unfortunately, she couldn't remember the email address with which she had created this account. From then on, it became impossible for her to delete it.
/n As a result, this account now has a negative impact on his job search. It is as if she is being harassed by this account she created, but that she can no longer have deleted, or have deleted. She cannot even report it, even if her account is actively damaging her reputation
/n With a power of attorney and a copy of his ID, I tried to have this account deleted (or at least delete this tweet), but @TwitterSupport has always answered in the negative... The account does not have any other tweets, it is nominative, mentioning her full name. No ambiguity
/n And it is very easy to understand that the content of that unique tweet can be harmful to its author. There is no reason to refuse its deletion. Just think if this teenager would like to study or travel to the US (she'll have to mention this account when she enters the US)
/6 It's just the story of a teen, not a president, not a politician... just a normal person... Twitter seems to be taking good measures to deal with the problems users face, but in this area, it doesn't seem to be making much progress...
