1/ People often ask me why I’m so “against” the iPhone. Why do I go out of my way to point out flaws or make analogies that put it in a bad light?
First, iPhone’s architecture & culture is _opposite_ that of Nokia, and yet claims to offer same solutions: phone calls, text, MMS…

Second, iPhone is considered a phone ‘blue chip’, thus colors perception of uninformed newcomers.
I've followed the iPhone since 2004 & feel a responsibility to share my concerns. IMO contrary to its marketing, iPhone is at best a science experiment. It’s sold 2 millions in 2007, which I think is still too high.
I agree with Android developers that it’s not a phone.
To me the first red flag came up when in our weekly hangout we asked the iPhone team about to how they were going to add external apps. (We’re now 4.5 years later, and an App Store is still a pipe dream.)
Despite strong optimism that video recording on iPhone’s camera was around the corner (just another engineering job), this promise hasn’t been delivered on to date.
Recently, a team of reputable developers decided to peer review a widely anticipated iCloud Drive feature, concluding that it does not live up to its own claims.
Compare this to how Nokia phones are being sold:
The elephant in the room is the transition to 3G, a “twice as fast” internet connection. (If this was the plan all along, why not have WiFi hotspot?
This parody thread highlights that progress takes time, and a public permissionless blockchain is hard to scale.

If the iPhone, whose R&D started around 2001, had publicized its research, people would have grown impatient too.

It took Apple 6 years to launch & 9 to mainstream
