If an elected official is in the closet, so long as they support LGBTQ rights, it's really none of my business. Or yours. We have no stake in their personal life. We do not know their personal journey.

It takes a very small mind and small heart to argue otherwise.
And a person who mocks someone for being in the closet--when they're not hurting anyone else--is signaling to others in the closet, particularly those without power, that they're wrong. Let people navigate their own paths. Keep your damn nose out of their business.
Some of y'all are in such a fever to gain notoriety on this hellsite and get cheap RTs that you've forgotten your humanity and decency. You've forgotten how incredibly harmful it is to shame those who are struggling with their identity. You need to rediscover it and quickly.

Excuse me, Sir, but based on biology, that tree was assigned “Abies procera” at birth. You can’t change science just because of how you “feel”.
I have no issue with LGB folks, but this “T” nonsense is ridiculous. Trees are trees. It’s science.
Put a skirt and jewelry on that THING, and it’s still a tree. Damn liberals. How am I supposed to explain this to my children?

As would be expected, I’ve gotten many messages today from conservative strangers demanding proof that Trump is attacking LGBTQ people.

I don’t think I can do this for another four years. I’m exhausted.

I rarely make reference to religion here beyond noting the extreme hypocrisy permeating the evangelical Christian movement's support of @realDonaldTrump.

But next month @UMChurch will make a decision with far reaching implications and I feel compelled to comment.

In January 2017 the General Conference of the United Methodist Church appointed a 32 member body called the 'Commission on a Way Forward' to examine the church's official policies regarding the $LGBTQ community.

The Commission studied the issue for a year.

In March of 2018 they issued their findings. Their report was made public and handed over last year to the Council of Bishops for examination who spent weeks examining and considering its content.

His life was tragically cut short when he was assassinated nearly one year after taking office.

Harvey was born May 22, 1930, in Woodmere, NY. Harvey and his only sibling, Robert, worked in the family’s department store, “Milks.” They were a small middle-class Jewish family that had founded a Jewish synagogue and was well known in their community for their civic engagement.
Milk knew he was gay while attending high school, where he was a popular student w/ interests from opera to football.

While in college, Milk penned a weekly student newspaper column where he questioned issues of diversity and lessons learned from the recently ended World War.
