[Thread] The scene outside Polytechnic University right now. Protesters have blocked the junction Chatham Rd / Cheong Wan Rd with bricks.

Riot police have arrived outside #PolyU on Chantham Rd. Protesters are getting ready for standoff.

By visual approximation, the riot police seem to be outnumbered by black-clad protesters for now.

Pretty quiet outside #PolyU for now.

At closer inspection, it is no overstatement that protesters have fortified #PolyU very strategically.

They've divided into three lines of defence. The first behind plastic wrap. The second behind brick walls. The third within the building itself.

This bus driver was unsuccessful when trying to drive through the brick layered terrain. After consultation with protesters, he backed off and drove away.

Makeshift barricade under construction outside #PolyU on Chatham Road South.

Cars are slowly turning back once they realize the road is sealed.

Inside @HongKongPolyU, protesters are barricading the main entrance in anticipation for police storming through the frontline.

Mountains and mountains of supply inside @HongKongPolyU canteen.

There are food, clothing, hygiene products, toilet papers, etc. Each type of supply neatly organised by lanes like a supermarket.

Protesters are preparing for a siege of attrition.

Trying to capture the environment inside @HongKongPolyU canteen without filming anyone's face by accident.

Supplies are organised by different tables: "daily product," "dry food," "instant food," etc.

The #PolyU canteen is miraculously still in operation, now run by volunteer protester / chefs.

The canteen has been renamed "Food Court of Resistance."

This is the kind of food protesters are serving inside #PolyU right now.

To be honest, it's not that bad...

Sun Yat-sen statue has been... reappropriated.

I'm just realizing that #PolyU campus is huge and kind of maze-like, not like HKU at all.

Even if the police storms in, they won't have an easy time doing cat and mouse chase.

"Why has university campus turned into battlefield?"

Hong Kong Polytechnic University, 2019

#PolyU swimming pool has turned into a site for target practice, both for arrow and Molotov cocktail. This is the aftermath.

An impressive stockpile of petrol bomb that has been in production since morning. There are other assembly lines at work across #PolyU campus.

Did some scouting to understand #PolyU campus, and turns out it is very similar to CUHK in that it is practically a fort with few entry points despite locating in the centre of city.

Protesters have sealed off all access points aside from the main entrance.

Back at the main entrance of PolyU, protesters are ready to face riot police should they breach the frontline.

They are capitalising their advantage from hight, ready to rain down bricks and Molotov cocktails anytime.

So far no signs of police presence.

Calling it a night at PolyU.

Despite widespread nervousness and anticipation for police siege, no standoff happened as of 22:50.

Mood is relaxing inside the building, protesters are having dinner and faffing about. Not sure what awaits them tomorrow.
