I have a bunch of test Android device, phones attached via WiFi and Android TV boxes. They make me really appreciate the value of "Brave", the privacy-focused browser.
Trying to use the Chrome browser built into Android is painful. A lot of sites are effectively unusable with all the advertisements they shove down your throat. I don't understand how people without ad blocking function.
As for ad blocking, there's another problem: you can't use Google's App Store without giving up private information to Google, like your phone number. It's sometimes hard downloading stuff through a mechanism that's not the App Store that doesn't lead to malware.
So anyway, searching for "site:brave.com apk" leads to this as the source for installing Brave through a trusted means that's not the App Store:

So here is a good example of how culture warps your perception. As everybody knows, New York city landlords are always evil, and tenants are always the good guys. That's the premise upon which the entire system is based. If you rent out your condo, you become the "bad guy".
Google "New York City landlord". The responses clearly show what everyone knows, that landlords are evil and tenants have rights. The entire system is wildly tilted in favor of tenants and against landlords.
I read a good article a few years ago from the landlords perspective of the effort and costs it took to evict a tenant who had not paid in something like a year, on how the system was tilted against landlords. I can't find it -- because all my results are how landlords are evil.

A home is not a good investment. No joking, it is indeed a fallacy pushed by the boomer generation, and a good reason to criticize that generation. This fallacy is essentially the cause of the 2008 Great Recession.
It's like how Koreans believe in "fan death", that leaving a fan on in a room will suck out all the oxygen and suffocate people. It makes no scientific sense, things can't work anything like this, but the older generation still believes.

Home ownership is our fan death.
The mind boggling obvious fallacy here is that government policy is going to make it easy for new home buyers to buy cheaply, but that old home owners will be able to sell their homes for an expensive price. The two policies are incompatible, yet government pursues both.

Some people tricked otherwise libertarian magazine Reason.com to publish this anti-libertarian piece in which special interests are lobbying for favorable government regulation to sell their products.
The libertarian approach to fixing the problem is a carbon tax that's offset by reductions in other taxes so that it's revenue neutral. Nobody (other than libertarians) like this solution because it fails to promote special interests.
Nobody really believes in manmade climate change (except libertarians). Instead, they are just trying to exploit the cause to promote their own special interests. The "Green New Deal" is a great example, it contains little that is green and much that is "New Deal".

Contrary to endless "privacy is dead" predictions, people are making more privacy-conscious decisions in the last few years. Many companies now pitch privacy as a selling point: large ones like Apple, medium-sized ones like Firefox, and smaller ones like DuckDuckGo and Brave.
A nuance worth mentioning: DuckDuckGo and Brave were privacy-focused since their inception (DDG in 2008 and Brave in 2015) whereas Apple and Firefox have moved in a privacy-focused direction in response to shifting attitudes among users leading to a market opportunity.
There have been other recent wins for privacy: most notably, the GDPR. But consumer privacy regulation can only really succeed if it creates incentives that reshape the market. So it's reassuring to see privacy-focused tech companies flourish.

2/ Smartphones are grabbing private data without shame. Google Android is bad, iOS not much better. I plan to try two options:
