Some people tricked otherwise libertarian magazine Reason.com to publish this anti-libertarian piece in which special interests are lobbying for favorable government regulation to sell their products.
The libertarian approach to fixing the problem is a carbon tax that's offset by reductions in other taxes so that it's revenue neutral. Nobody (other than libertarians) like this solution because it fails to promote special interests.
Nobody really believes in manmade climate change (except libertarians). Instead, they are just trying to exploit the cause to promote their own special interests. The "Green New Deal" is a great example, it contains little that is green and much that is "New Deal".
It's like this piece by Greta Thunberg that proudly proclaims "it's not just about the environment". If it were just about the environment, we could actually be solving it.

There aren't any real science deniers. People aren't denying the science so much as all the special interests that come attacked to what people claim to be the science.
Anyway, I'm carbon neutral (offsetting my personal emissions with carbon offsets). If you actually believed in the science, that's something you'd be doing, too.
That original Reason.com piece was sellers of financial products trying to lobby the government in favor of their financial products. And they (amusingly) call this the "free market approach". It isn't, it's not close, and it's something libertarians should recognize
