A few things triggered the move of the Kaepernick workout:

1.) There was a significant problem with the type of waiver #NFL requested. Kaepernick agreed to sign a normal Pro Day injury waiver. NFL asked for a more complex waiver with clauses about non-guarantees of employment.
2.) Kaepernick’s camp requested to tape the workout alongside the #NFL’s crew. They didn’t trust the NFL being the only ones with the tape. Kaepernick wanted it taped and released in its entirety to teams and the public after the workout. The NFL refused to allow them to tape it.
3.) When #NFL refused to allow Kaepernick to tape the workout and control their own copy, Kaepernick asked that media be allowed into the workout to view/record the session. NFL said no. That’s when Kaepernick felt the league refused to be transparent and asked to change venues.
4.) It’s now up to the #NFL teams to decide if they want their reps to relocate to the new venue. They have been invited on-site in Flowery Branch. The new location will also make it far easier for teams to access the local airport, meaning NFL reps can attend and easily fly out.

A thread on my too short training camp visit with the New York #Jets ...
1. Ryan Kalil addition is big. He could have gone elsewhere. Others would have jumped at him. That Kalil chose #Jets speaks to the new management making strides with their pitch. Part of anchoring this regime will be a culture sell and Kalil is a culture/program guy. He’s a win.
2. More on Kalil: I think his net positive for Sam Darnold and #Jets will be similar to what Max Unger did for Russell Wilson initially in Seattle. Making sure line protections are right, dialing in the unit’s chemistry, anchoring a combo with the guards that should be very good.

MY DAUGHTER'S HEAD

There were no obvious signs at first—more that she was tired, then spacy. This was a shift. Since turning 13, she had experienced none of the expected personality shifts; no back talk, no tantrums.
She was still a sweet and loyal kid, if one who spent more time on the phone and used words I did not recall teaching her. Sure, she was tired after school, but she’d always been. What happened now was more than afternoon tiredness.
I’d pick her up from the bus at 4:30 and she’d sit in the car as though she were a zombie.

#NFL Concussion Settlement Special Masters have issued a report this morning which appears to be the first of three. The Claims Admin report has also dropped by the BAP Admin report hasn't as of yet.

I didn't see anything particularly earth-shattering in the Special Masters' report but there were a few items of interest.
The Special Masters' report on appeals underscores the importance of Judge Brody's ruling which substantially changed the balances in the settlement when she authorized AAP review on the front end. As you can see, the appellee has prevailed in most instances.

Right, rugby (and other contact sport) friends, gather round and let me try to share with you some slides & ideas I presented at the @NFLResearch Conference on Collision sport in London last week. This set was on nudging safer behavior, it’s a thread. But it’ll have pictures…1/
2/ First, a philosophical issue that *SHOULD* influence actions (subtly). Change is hard. It’s resisted. That’s as true in the #NFL as it is in #rugby, and in any other sport. These quotes are basically interchangeable - players, coaches, media etc - push back against change.
3/ However, we also can’t allow the tail to wag the dog - if risk is too high, change IS necessary. But how much? The key question, for me, is how you achieve “change without change?”, as this slide asks? Change X but not Y (the sport) (too much). That’s key to getting buy-in.

Health scares.

These huge, crossroads-style events can wreak havoc on your fitness goals.
Truth be told, I'm going through one right now.

My family is in the process of moving.

We got the keys to the new house last Friday, and we're moving into the new house this upcoming Friday.

Exciting, but totally out of the norm.
And here's the thing - we have so much shit to do, that there is no WAY I will get to the gym this week.

And last week, I only got to the gym on Monday.

I had too much shit going on.

It will be a full, 2 weeks of not training.....
