As someone who has had the privilege of representing asylum seekers who risked their lives standing up to corruption, I was touched by the gratitude expressed in the #VindmanTestimony that Lt Col #Vindman's family no longer lives in a country like that.

If only it were true.
It's one thing to know that there are places where it's impossible to remove a corrupt president, and where his party will knowingly help him try to expose any whistleblowers to acts of stochastic violence.

It's another thing to realize that you live in one of those places.
Trump doesn't admire Putin, Erdogan, MBS, etc in spite of flagrant murders of critics, journalists, & truthtellers. He clearly admires them *for* these things.

Retributive violence is a hell of a drug
The Rs obsession with exposing & destroying the whistleblower is scary. Scarier: the kids watching how well this shit plays.

The young fascists who shouted down Don Jr & Charlie Kirk aren't outliers. They're the future of the conservative movement.

I started Paxton's "Anatomy of Fascism" within days of Trump's election, and pieces of his exceptionally helpful definition of fascism have been running through my head almost continuously since then. I'm really feeling the highlighted part today.
Fascism is a state of mind. The kind that would have a federal prosecutor like @RepRatcliffe pretend like he doesn't know the legal definition of bribery, or the function of fact witnesses. It also explains everything about Devin Nunes & Jim Jordan. (Read this again.)
