Well for starters we stop letting Republican elected officials who pal around with White supremacists hijack the entire government and get away with it. Next we stop pretending this isn’t occurring b/c of the White majority’s racism, misogyny, homophobia, greed and ignorance.
@NancyRHM The issue with this conceptualization of the whole problem as a North vs. South schism is why people are so dumbfounded that the Rust Belt turned red (even apart from the hacking/suppression). Fear, hatred, ignorance and segregation aren’t confined to the South.
@NancyRHM Wisconsin is by no stretch of the imagination a bastion of diversity and equality, it’s segregated and it’s 91% White. Nothing there makes them immune to the Southern Strategy or Trump.
@NancyRHM They’re literally poisoning Black ppl w/leaded water in Flint and still not doing anywhere near enough to rectify the problem even though it’s a global story, but folk are still like “I don’t understand how MI turned red.” 🤔 The “heartland” sold its soul to the GOP.
