#BREAKING: #SCOTUS issues stay of House subpoena for @realDonaldTrump’s financial records in DC case, but requires a cert. petition to be filed by Thursday, December 5 (well before it would otherwise be due).

No dissents were noted from the unsigned order.
Here’s my thread from Friday on what to expect, and why this is a short-term win for Trump, but not necessarily indicative that he’s ultimately going to win on the merits:

Now, the subpoena remains frozen pending the Court’s consideration of (1) whether to hear @realDonaldTrump’s appeal; and (2) if so, how to rule on the merits.

Either way, the time limit in the order means such review would take place before the end of this Term—by June 2020.
