I woke up early on my day off to move my SUV (alternate side parking) & am still pissed off that Michael Bloomberg has the audacity to be running as president. For anyone who doesn’t think broken windows policing that targeted black & Hispanic people for minor crimes with stop &
frisk caused any harm, I can assure you that it did & all evidence proves stop & frisk did not reduce crime. NYPD radically cut back their use of stop-and-frisk & crime didn’t spike, but was reduce yet again. propublica.org/article/in-new… We are personally still dealing with the
fallout from stop & frisk in 2019. Bloomberg & Rudy Giuliani are both racist assholes who used stop & frisk to harass black & brown people in NYC for years. Bloomberg was defending stop & frisk until January 2019 cnn.com/2019/01/22/pol… although a NY court declared stop & frisk
unconstitutional in 2013 nytimes.com/2013/08/13/nyr…. NYPD police pat-downs are disproportionately increasing for black people, up to 52% in 2016, 57% in 2017 & 2018, & 60% in 2019, per the New York Civil Liberties Union. NYPD found no weapon on 93% of the people stopped. Among
people that the NYPD stopped & frisked, black and Hispanic people were less likely than white people to have a weapon on them. The data is here: nyclu.org/en/stop-and-fr… It will cost us $18,286.75 to exercise my husband's 2nd Amendment rights in NYC to carry a gun for a lucrative
federal job applied for in 2017 that he was to start in March 2018. Not a typo, 2018. Homeland Security already cleared him in 2017, yes, that Homeland Security but the NYPD has been holding this process up since 2017. He is an honorably discharged veteran with no criminal
record. The $18,286.75 can be used to pay for so many other things but instead we are using it to fight the NYPD who is taking us through this expensive & long process to get his premise permit (approved) & carry permit (disapproved) that were both initially approved multiple
times by the NYPD’s own internal process. The NYPD filed an order to show cause to file his arrest record under seal since they don’t want him to be subjected to the stigma related to accusations of criminal conduct…aka the stigma of DISMISSED arrests NYPD used against him to
deny his carry permit for his federal job. The NYPD doesn’t even see the irony. He has a dismissed arrest in NYC from 2000 for subway fare evasion when he PAID his fare & his teen nephew pushed in behind him to doubled up as a joke – it should have been a summons since neither
of them had a criminal record but they are black men so they were both arrested & processed over a $1.50 fare - 92% of those arrested for jumping turnstiles in 2015 were people of color nydailynews.com/new-york/nypd-…) From the linked article: "The NYPD does not arrest the casual fare
evader who jumps the turnstile once" & "Only recidivists, including chronic fare evaders, wind up arrested." Except that is a lie since NYPD does arrest black people who are not chronic fare evaders. Recall, Giuliani was a proponent of “broken windows” policing so to him it was
totally fine to arrest black first time offenders for any petty crime whereas a white person wasn’t arrested for the same $1.50 offense. He also has a 2002 arrest for self-defense during a Rottweiler attack (NYPD prefers he let a dog maim or kill him), a judge threw the case out
at the first appearance because HUMANS over dogs (did you know animal cruelty is now a federal crime abc13.com/pets-animals/t… but lynching a Black person is still not a federal crime npr.org/2018/12/21/679…) & a 2007 arrest for a dime bag ($10) of marijuana that should have been
a summons but he’s a black man in Brooklyn (“We looked at who was getting arrested for possession in Brooklyn. It was 93% people of color.” Brooklyn District Attorney Gonzalez brooklyneagle.com/articles/2019/… Studies show white people use marijuana at the same rate as other groups but in
NYC people of color are arrested for it while white people are not. The 2007 dime bag arrest by two white male undercover officers was on our wedding anniversary. A former neighbor handed the marijuana to him as a gift, he doesn’t even smoke. Although he was arrested at 8:40 am
right after walking away from his old neighbor's stoop & on his way to the gym, NYPD held him all day on purpose since they laughed when he mentioned it was our anniversary during his arrest. When I went to get him, I was in my dress & makeup to go to dinner because recall, they
held him all day long before letting him call me over a $10 bag of marijuana. When I went to the 79th precinct, officer Velez told me that she didn’t understand why he was arrested since he had no priors when she looked him up in the system. Yes, I recall her name because I
wrote her a thank you letter (that I ultimately didn’t send). She explained to me that the Sergeant could have issued a desk appearance ticket for a dime bag. She was just as confused as me. Also, the arrest report reads quantity unknown although everyone knew it was a dime bag &
Velez is listed as the arresting officer although she was not at the scene at all. Remember though, Mike Bloomberg thought it was totally fine to arrest black & brown people for petty crimes that would not result in arrest for a white person. Hubby was released late that evening
after seeing a judge (I changed into a suit to go to night court to appear as his lawyer). We missed our anniversary dinner reservation at the venue where we had our wedding reception (they have a restaurant attached). Breakdown of expenses: $340 premise gun permit application
fee, $94.25 digital fingerprints, $850 legal fees to appeal the premise permit disapproval (which we later learned was approved by the investigating officer & approved by the supervisor), carry permit fees paid for by his job, $950 legal fees to appeal carry permit disapproval
(which we later learned was approved by the investigating officer & supervisor 8 times due to duplicate applications), $2500 legal fees for Article 78 appeal, $760 filing fees & service of process, $1000 for oral argument. The stage we are at now: $465 filing & legal fees to
appeal to NY Appellate Court, $850 legal fees for Settlement Conference, $5000 legal fees for appeal briefing, $1000 for oral argument & $4477.5 (plus taxes) to print & bind the record on appeal per archaic court rules. This is all because NYPD is holding dismissed arrests
against my husband to stop him from getting a lucrative job because Giuliani & Bloomberg thought it was totally fine to stop & frisk black people & arrest black & Hispanic people for minor crimes that they didn’t arrest white people for committing. I most certainly have PTSD from
all the times hubby has been stopped by NYPD. I have on occasion felt myself exhale when he finally made it home from being out in NYC all day. I can breathe comfortably once his keys hit the door. He was stopped by 4 cops at the park blocks from our home and had guns pointed
at him after he parked the car to walk home during the Bloomberg years. They were allegedly looking for a man who had been sitting in the park who couldn’t possibly have been hubby since he has waist length hair unlike anyone else in this area & he’d been at work all day & just
parked the car to walk home. The NYPD noticed his Veteran’s ID in his wallet and said “Thank you for your service” before letting him walk away after having just pointed guns at him. When he was driving my older luxury car regularly, he was stopped in NYC by cops all the time
and let them violate his rights often by searching the car & trunk. He knows it’s a violation of his rights, but to avoid being late for work or meetings, he allowed his rights to be violated. He was stopped in his own luxury car multiple times, including twice in the same week
by the same NJ Turnpike cop. He relayed the cops military story from the previous stop to prove the cop stopped him earlier that week. He wasn’t issued a ticket either time. We have a Ford now & a Mercury. NYPD stopped him a lot in 2009/2010 while driving the 2010 Ford Taurus
but it was a new body style so they asked about the car instead of trying to frisk him or search the trunk. Lest you be lulled into the false sense of security that being a wealthy black person will solve all the problems encountered with police: “The sons of black families from
the top 1 percent had about the same chance of being incarcerated on a given day as the sons of white families earning $36,000.” nytimes.com/interactive/20… If you made it this far, I leave you with this: I hope to see Rudy Giuliani in handcuffs soon for his role in Ukraine &
