THREAD: There will be a whole pack of resources released from the NUS next week on the UCU strikes that are taking place across UK universities 25th November to 4th December, but in the meantime, here’s my thoughts on why and how we support the strike! #UCUstrike #UCUstrikesback
We support the strike because we care about the lives of people who work in our unis and colleges: we take their welfare seriously and believe that it’s unacceptable that they have to work beyond their contracted hours while their jobs become less secure.
Staff shoulder the burden of successive cuts to our education. Strike action makes the importance of staff labour visible by removing it. We take for granted the way that staff continue to work under poor conditions.

Our attention has been drawn to a report of the House Committee on Emergency & Disaster Preparedness issued on Thursday,Nov 8, 2018, particularly in respect of funds released for “emergency intervention of food security to the NorthEast” in June 2017,when the VP was Ag President.
In its report, the Committee alleged that a sum of N5,865,671,939.26 was approved and released in June 2017 vide a Memo raised from the Office of the Acting President, directing the Honourable Minister of Finance and the Accountant General of the Federation to so act.

What they don't realize is that by doing that they alienate people. #thread 👇
* When junior people see their managers as very strong, they might be scared to share their opinion
* When senior people see their managers as strong on things that don't make sense, they might think they're an idiot and not say anything
I think the best thing we can do with our teams is create a vulnerability based trust where we can be who we really are. We're never as strong as when we're ourselves.
