One simple thread
With one simple question
Whom do you expect to possess a moral compass?
Honestly
Do you expect your children to have a moral compass?
At what age?
Do you expect an adult to have a moral compass?
I asked do you expect them to have a moral compass
Not where it points to
"An ethical culture plays an essential role in clarifying to the troops their moral obligation and the kind of behaviors that are unacceptable and those that are held in esteem"

"Without wise leadership, a nation falls; there is safety in having many advisers." – Proverbs 11:14 (NLT)

That could be a fascinating albeit slightly longer and divergent thread from the focus I am applying here

Do you expect an individual to have a moral compass?
Does a nation have a moral compass?
"President Wilson believed that the United States should serve as a moral compass to the rest of the world. "

"This Parliament has enormous moral compass"

Now I am going to go back and focus on an individual
But first a few occassions where public servants (e.g. politicians) talked about morality

Strange that discussing young people MP's can make a judgement about the existence of moral compasses
"What is unfortunately being said about the moral compass of these young people is incredibly worrying."

Do you expect an individual to have a moral compass?
JRM: “I’m sure he has clear view of what he wants to do”
Where’s the plan ?
14/6/2016 Daily Telegraph
“Johnson and Gove, the two leading figures in the Leave campaign, have drawn up a blueprint for implementing a Brexit. Sensibly, it calls for flexibility and a period of reflection”
JRM: Well that depends what you mean by moral compass but I am not looking for a leader of the party and of the country who is a practicing Catholic who could alternatively be in holy orders. That’s not the question.
Perhaps a few sessions from a technology tutor could help
I am sure Boris Johnson could recommend one for Jacob
CN: I’m not asking you to judge. Are you felling comfortable?
JRM: You are actually. You are asking me to judge Boris Johnson’s private life and I don’t.
JRM: What I trust him to do is to deliver in the public sphere, and one of the key tenets of Christianity is not to judge. Judgment will come from a higher authority in due course
Did he look you in the eyes whilst lying?
How did that pan out for Mark Francois?
Good thing he didn’t say that about Sikhs, Muslims, Jews or any other faith
When asked if a candidate for leadership of his party had a moral compass
Jacob Rees Mogg could not answer Yes
That is all you need to know
to quote Dodgeball -
"Remember the 5 D's of dodgeball: Dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge."
- Patches O'Houlihan.
"Make no mistake about it, language is not neutral. To pretend otherwise is disingenuous and dangerous."

On the record of one Boris Johnson
It is a long one and wraps up many many others with their journalism and their recounts of Boris Johnson
