Millennials I talk to are always shocked to find out their Boomer parents are "house rich but cash poor" which is a cute way of saying "entire retirement plan hinges on selling a 4-bedroom house to a generation who isn't having kids and doesn't want to live in fuck nowhere."

It's obvious that young people want candidates to perform angry catharsis for them.

The tragedy of misogyny is that if a female candidate were to get on stage and successfully perform her anger, millions of men would rededicate their lives to destroying her.
If a female candidate for US Senate got on a stage and started yelling about how fucked up the oligarchy is and how much she's going to tax the shit out of Jeff Bezos, men would start showing up outside her rallies with signs of her face in crosshairs.
If a woman got on a stage and started going on angry tirades about climate collapse, the media wouldn't focus on her words at all, they'd be sending junior reporters to find dirt that shows this angry woman is a bad mom and even worse wife.

Don't kid yourself.

300,000 people were diagnosed with Lyme disease last year and that number is expected to keep increasing because climate change is making the tick season longer.

Lyme is a debilitating disease with no cure and it's becoming an epidemic in parts of rural America.
Here in rural Pennsylvania, parents are terrified of letting their children play in forests because of the tick infestation we have to accept as our norm now.

We're literally a state named after our forests but our kids can no longer play in them because of climate change.
We don't need nonprofits to raise "awareness" about Lyme. People know what Lyme is. But we do need to make it clear in how we talk about it that Lyme is a climate change disease devastating rural mountain regions in America where people already suffer from limited access to care.

You have no idea. At all.

I stopped using Facebook about the time the algorithmic feed was being introduced. I was repulsed by the idea that a corporation could decide which of my friends I would see and which ones would fade quietly from my life into ghosts.
Instagram now uses algorithms to decide for you which of your friends' pictures you should see and which ones aren't worthy of your attention.

That's fucked up, but will you quit over it?

Probably not.

Way back in April of last year, I did a big thread of the tools I use to make RPGs as part of the #AprilTTRPGMaker hashtag. The 1st & most useful part of that thread is about conceptual tools--ideas that helped me create, refine & hone my designs.
The 2nd, far less useful, part was about the hardware & software I play around with while designing.

As I say in the thread, I have emotions about all that. I love a gadget. They're fun to play with and fun to play is one of my favorite design goals...
...but I remember being an aspiring writer in the 80s & 90s, when so many folks wanted to sell your own dreams back to you in the form of just the right tool.

It makes one suspicious of "the right tool."
