Nadler asks Gerhardt what happens when the President orders all witnesses to disregard congressional subpoenas. Wish he'd directed it to Turley instead.
Anyone else have Viscount Mordaunt on their Bingo card?
Is... Turley working towards an argument that "bribery" is only impeachable if the President is receiving cash in the quid pro quo?
Maybe I missed it, but I have no idea what Turley's definition of "bribery" is.
Every time I think Turley is coming towards a point, he pivots to something different.
The one point I've been able to discern is that Turley thinks this impeachment has moved too fast.
Turley: No obstruction case exists unless Trump has defied a court order.
These words from Collins and Turley are just washing over me right now. Hard to make rhyme or reason out of any points being made beyond the GOP witness's insistence that Trump should be impeached for more acts after more investigation.
Turley: Things are nowhere near as partisan as they have been in the past. But even then, they didn't impeach. We're too partisan and angry now to impeach.
On a related point, I don't think American history classes adequately convey what a bunch of petty mofos the Founders were.
Turley says he has not seen any evidence of conduct amounting to a crime by Trump, but declines to specify what crimes he alleges have not been met. This testimony is meaningless.
Skimming Turley's opening, and it seems his position is that Trump can only commit bribery if he was *seeking to be bribed.*

Seeking to pay a bribe to a foreign official is also a crime. Doesn't seem like Turley addresses that at all.
(For the record what Trump did also would be seeking to receive a bribe. But if he himself wasn't an official, the act of seeking to pay a bribe to a foreign official would still be unlawful.)
Can anyone catch me up on why Turley doesn't think Trump's acts are bribery under McConnell? He's not saying that "setting up a meeting" isn't an official act in this context, is he?
