I wrote about how age has become the most important political fault line in the Democratic Party—and, perhaps, in the entire 2020 election.

The most important fact in the primary is this:

Democrats under 30 have no statistically measurable interest in the party’s front-runner; and Dems over 65 have even less interest in the favored candidate of the young.
The Great Recession was a tectonic moment in generational politics, splitting Millennial politics from older cohorts.

That divide is maintained and deepened by differences in media consumption: Seniors live in TVLand, young activists live on social. These are different worlds.
In sum, Boomers vs Millennials is the most important dynamic in Democratic politics.

The 2020 primary is an election featuring two groups that, in a parliamentary system, would be two coherent parties: older mod-libs vs. young progressives.
