1/8 Donald Trump has just unilaterally committed an act of war without the approval of Congress. Not even the Gang of 8 was informed.

2/8 Make no mistake. General Qassem Soleimani was an evil man responsible for the death of thousands, from employing sophisticated IEDs used against American troops to recent murdering of Iraqi protesters.

The Shadow Commander: newyorker.com/magazine/2013/…
3/8 None-the-less, this is an act of war, the assassination of a powerful foreign leader, the second most powerful man in Iran, at a time when Trump has just been impeached and is facing trial while ALSO up for re-election.

Every #Resistance account has the following bio basically verbatim:

"Snarky nerd who takes no shit. Lover of warm coffee, a good book, and the Oxford Comma. Bernie Bots and Trumpets WILL BE BLOCKED! Don't like liberals? Kiss my rebel ass! #GeeksResist"
Other common additions:

- "Republican for 30 years until #45 came along" - This sentence is always by a profile picture of the person's pet corgi

- "#BLM" - Despite the fact that they have no actual association with Black Lives Matter and don't seem to actually support it.
- "#RebelScum" - Cringey reference to the candyfloss garbage known as the Star Wars franchise

- "#VoteLikeABlackWoman" - Will always be accompanied by an invisible asterisk that states "except for Nina Turner, Ilhan Omar, or anyone else to the left of me"

1/5 Donald Trump, aka John Barron, aka David Dennison, is telling us "do not believe any article or story you read or see that uses “anonymous sources” having to do with trade or any other subject."

This is more than an attack on the #FreePress.

#GeeksResist #DemCast #OneVoice1
2/5 It is an attack on facts.

On reality.

And on the #whistleblower.

Trump famously spreads disinformation with phrases like "people are saying", invoking phantom polls and friends and "everybody knows" when he wants to lie.

So he has no problem with "anonymous sources."
3/5 His problem is when others use REAL anonymous sources, like the #FreePress, law enforcement, or Congress, for all of whom these sources are vital to preserving our Democratic liberties by obtaining information people would otherwise not share for fear of reprisal or censure.

1/17 Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch is a hero.

Let's begin there.

She did not set out to be a hero.

She set out to serve her country with skills carefully learned over a lifetime in the Foreign Service.

And she did.

2/17 A career diplomat, she served in the State Department since 1986. This means she served under Reagan, Bush Sr., Clinton, Bush Jr., and Obama before doing so under Trump.

washingtonpost.com/politics/2019/…
3/17 She is the Canadian-born daughter of Russians who fled the USSR & Nazis, served 30 years in the Foreign Service wing of the State Dept., moved 13 times to serve in 7 countries, & is former ambassador to Kyrgyzstan (2004-08) & Armenia (2008-11).

1/8 #Disinformation & #Misinformation can come in many forms.

One of them is #cherrypicking, where only certain pieces of information are chosen to sell your argument.

Sometimes this presentation is done purely for sensationalism.

Take this Dan Scavino post Trump re-tweeted:
2/8 Seizing upon this shocking potential revelation, numerous news outlets are broadcasting it as if it were a lock, a definite thing, but if you look more closely at the articles themselves, it turns out to be anything but.
3/8 The numbers come from Moody's Analytics, a poll alla re swift to note has been accurate for 40 years... except in 2016.

That's a very recent & sizable blunder, & though they insist taking into account surprise turnout patterns resolves the issue, it leaves room for doubt.

1/16 It has begun. The GOP is spinning that the sole transcript Trump says he will release is more important than the #WhistleblowerComplaint as a tactic to insist everything should ride on this one supposed piece of evidence.

#ImpeachTrump #ImpeachmentParty #UkraineTranscript
2/16 All reports indicate this was a months-long conspiracy Trump and Giuliani were engaged in, subverting & bypassing officials who tried to stop them.

A single call does not BEGIN to give an accurate depiction of the events that lead up to this. washingtonpost.com/national-secur…
3/16 And Trump already has a shady history with releasing information.

Forget the obvious like his tax returns, school grades, and secret meetings with Putin.

Actually, a reminder of those secret meetings:

This story deserves our skepticism.

We all know #ThisIsNotNormal. 💯
Some folks are saying it may never be normal again. 🙄

But I'm gonna let you all in on a secret.
Are you ready?

Our "normal" was hot garbage.
No, really.
Hot. Frelling. Garbage.

Let's review, shall we?

<thread> It's going to be too easy for things to start feeling normal—especially if you are someone who is not directly impacted by his actions. So keep reminding yourself: this is not normal. Write it on a Post-It Note & stick it on your refrigerator, hire a skywriter once a month, tattoo it on your ass. Because a klan-backed misogynist internet troll is going to be delivering the sotu. And that's fucked up. - John Oliver
"Normal" gave us a Republican party that flatly refused to work with President Obama. On anything. At all. Ever.

Think I'm exaggerating?
Two words: #MerrickGarland.

McConnell sat on a vacancy in the highest court of the land for a year.

And it was so "normal" we did nothing. Gorsuch arrives at a SCOTUS seat, in which President Obama's nominee is bound & gagged, saying,
"Normal" gave us 60+ votes to repeal the #AffordableCareAct. Heck, it gave us the ACA passing with zero GOP votes.

That's not hyperbole, folks.
The 1st House vote, ONE Republican.
The Senate vote, ZERO Republicans.
The final House vote, ZERO Republicans.

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patient_P… Roadrunner as Obamacare (Affordabilis Care Actus) outmaneuvers a pack of Coyotes as Republicans (Grandium Old Party).

<Thread>
We first thought Dilley isn’t inherently evil-just a large, emotionless machine running on bureaucratic inertia. Now we learn that for some, that’s not true. For them, Dilley is a torture chamber, built to cause the most extraordinary pain and exert devastating control over women
We have yet to see a single drug dealer, gang member or vandal bent on a life of crime in the US. That’s what they’ve risked their lives to escape, not what they intended to bring to America. And yet we expend enormous resources to keep these victims from victimizing us.

Men working at Dilley have to tread carefully, because many of their clients’ pains and indignities stem from their oppressed relationships with the men in their lives: abusive husbands, gang members, drunken relatives, indifferent police and government, and snakeheads.
It is therefore no surprise that some of the women receiving Credible Fear Interview preparation are reluctant to have a man sitting in on their prep team, are reluctant to reveal painful intimacies to men whose supportive attitudes and good will may seem foreign to them.

A common theme among us is,
“I was a voter.. but the election/trump/the #Resistance, made me an activist.”

Me too.

Activism became “my rent for living on the planet.”
It became as natural as breathing.

Now as I breathe, I #Resist.
But isn’t it even MORE than that?

Since then, I’ve learned what patriotism is, and what it FEELS like..

I used to see it as a pretty empty term, sadly, used by the alt-right, evocative of nationalism & bigotry.

Now I know what true patriotism is:
When We The People
fight for a more perfect union.

What have you learned about yourself?

Who or what is your #Resistance inspiration?

#GeeksResist gets a ton of credit for helping me realize my capacity for compassion, collaboration, and leadership 🖖💙

Constructive Dialogue and the Resistance

Scum

We’ve seen it happen countless times. Someone tweets something and someone else disagrees. Someone replies with something snarky, someone else bites bafdAO
Others start to chime in and it quickly spirals out of control. Stress magnifies it. Life under the Trump Administration has not been easy. We are at times angry, scared, incredulous, confused.
It’s hard to respond constructively when we are struggling with so much inner turmoil and anxiety.

How can we do this better? How can we debate constructively? How can we engage in a positive way with others who may not play by the same rules?

Refuse Fascism's flyers and website CLAIM they want peaceful protest until Trump is out of office. Sounds harmless, until you look closely at who is behind this group. Hint: Nov. 4th is RUSSIA'S UNITY DAY. 🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺 Thread 1 #ThursdayThoughts #GeeksResist #RefuseFascism

Trump is a lying, selfish, corrupt a$$ who committed collusion to win the election. It may make me feel better to write that. It may make you feel better to read it. We may get some followers out of it. BUT THAT'S NOT RESISTING. #FridayFeeling THREAD 1

One of the best things you can do to fight Trump is call your Members of Congress (MoCs). It's not glamorous or sexy, but it's one of the most important things registered voters can do. The deluge of phone calls is what helped to kill previous ACA repeal bills. 3 #CallYourReps
