1/12 No apologies for the length of this tweet. It speaks volumes not just for Keto, and @FatEmperor It also clearly indicates that 20 years of statin 'therapy' did nothing to help plaque reversal. With his kind permission, I share his story:
2/12 I'm Type 2 since 1999, on insulin for about 12 years. On IF Keto since 5th Nov 2018.

So far, I’ve lost 87 lbs, off nearly all meds, stopped my Atorvastatin 20mg I'd been taking for 20 yrs cold turkey and in early Nov 2019 my Endo said I could stop insulin.
3/12 Before IF Keto I took Atenolol 50mg & Lisinopril 40 mg for BP. Today on IF Keto I need just a low dose of Lisinopril 10 mg to keep my BP below 120/80 and I monitor my BP every day with my Omron 10 and my BP does stay consistently around 115/73.
4/12 In my non keto diet days, I needed 200 + units of insulin per day. A few years ago my Endo even suggested me using U500 insulin, such was my level of insulin resistance (Hyperinsulinemia).
5/12 Which meant at the time my pump reservoir would only last a day and a half instead of the normal 3 days.

CAC SCAN Baseline.
In May 2019 got my reluctant Endo to give me a prescription for CAC scan. Calcium score came back at a very high 2094.

To Statin or not to Statin ?
6/12 Endo wanted me back on a high dose statin. I said NO, but I I’ll try a low dose statin, 5mg Crestor. But after 2 months, now I've got Keto fit, I could feel quite quickly Crestor 5mg really didn't agree with me, I had muscle pains, stiffness in my legs and mental fog.
7/12 So, I stopped after 8 weeks.

As I said, I'd been on Atorvastatin 20mg for 20 years !! and it of course didn't give ME a low calcium score? So, it really seems statins are not what they are hyped up to be, for ME anyway.
8/12 BTW: I don't have any symptoms, ie angina or shortness of breath and I do cycle 8 miles a day without any issues. Keeping to a LCHF IF Keto lifestyle to avoid any regression in my T2D reversal.
9/12 After stopping Statins & 1 year after adopting the LCHF IF Keto diet lifestyle, my Triglycerides have gone way down and my HDL has gone way up.
Triglycerides were 220 and they went down to 51, my HDL was 46 and it went up to 84.
And my TRIG/HDL ratio went from 4.78 to 0.61
10/12 High CAC Score, now what?
I still needed to try to resolve my high calcium score of 2094, meaning I have very high levels of Coronary Arterial Plaque. So after searching the internet for possible solutions to lowering my Arterial Plaque
11/12 I found an Ivor Cummins & Patrick Theute Ep21 video on YouTube where Pat indicated that taking one of his Koncentrated Multi Vitamin K1+K2 MK7 capsules with 10 to 20,000 IUs of D3 once or twice a day had and is helping him reverse and stabilize his Calcified Arterial plaque
12/12 & get a lower CAC Calcium score. I will follow up with another CAC scan in May 2020, but life is good now !

(I wish this guy all the luck in the world with his next CAC scan. I'm truly inspired by his story)😃
